Darren Criss Pop Up Toys For Tots Show – New York City (VIDEO)

Darren Criss flew all the way to New York City over the weekend to perform a handful of holiday tunes at the Ebay Toys for Tots pop up box!

A crowd of excited fans shivered in the rain as Darren strummed his guitar through beloved holiday classics such as “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and the Glee arrangement of “White Christmas.”

This is the 3rd year in a row Darren has teamed up with Toys for Tots for the impromptu show. Concertgoers were encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the gig.

“For me, I think everybody with half a heart tries to do their best to do their part of good during the holiday season,” Darren told CBS news in an interview after the show. “I’m fortunate to have the sort of visibility, and it’s nice to use that to an advantage — where you shine that light on something a little more important than yourself and hopefully others follow suit. Hopefully, I’m just a gateway for other people to get into doing better things.”

Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Darren mentioned that maybe it was his idea to perform this song on the Glee Christmas special “Glee Actually”, set to air on Thursday!

Darren and his good friend, Charlene Kaye, sing the Glee arrangement of “White Christmas.” Chris Colfer is going to be way better than “that girl.” Heh.

Darren and his pals sing my favorite song, The Chipmunk song (Christmas Don’t Be Late). Blaine’s backups have a problem staying on pitch, but it’s still pretty funny.

The mic goes dead a little more than halfway through “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire” but the crowd helps Darren carry on!
