Darren Criss, began performances in Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway April 29. The production is running at the Belasco Theatre and is set for a limited engagement through July 19.
The former Glee star plays Hedwig, a transgender woman from communist East Berlin. She fronts a rock n roll band. In between songs, she tells humorous and painful stories about her life which includes a botched sex change operation (hence the “angry inch”) and an escape to America.
Darren made his Broadway debut in 2012 as J. Pierpont Finch in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. It was a only a three week stint that he squeezed in during the Glee hiatus.
Since we’ve been following this story from announcement, to the first promo photo, it seemed appropriate to share some of the first images of Darren in costume. Or not in costume, as the case may be! Darren has been working out and eating right, no? Rock on, sister!
