Danny Gokey just wrapped up a series of October concerts Wednesday night, as the lead act with The Band Perry and Steel Magnolia at WYRK’s Fall Acoustic Show in upstate NY. Mid-October also saw Danny performing at the “Bella Bash” fundraiser in Nashville, with Melinda Doolittle and others; and doing three of his own shows at the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh NC; Prospector’s country music club outside Philadelphia; and the Chameleon Club in Lancaster PA, an intimate setting where Danny and band jumped down on the dance floor to mingle with the crowd during the concert finale!

Danny Gokey’s mid-month schedule also included time at home for media and downtime (fun photo via @calvinnowell) in Nashville, and quite a bit of interesting news including:

  • Danny’s nomination as new/breakthrough artist for Fox’s American Country Awards
  • participation as a red carpet co-host for the upcoming American Music Awards (video), and
  • Danny is recording a Christmas song!

Video, reviews, and other highlights from Danny’s recent schedule below after the jump!

Other upcoming dates include the Coastal Carolina Fair (Charleston SC area, 11/3), signing at the Country Music Hall of Fame during CMA Week (Nashville, 11/8), and the Jacksonville State Fair (Jacksonville FL, 11/12).

  1. I really like the fact that Danny has the confidence to go down in the audience and have fun!! The band looked a little shellshocked at first and then they got into it with him.

I have heard that the other acts that he appeared with at teh acoustic concert -The Band Perry and Steel Magnolia- had nothing but good things to say about him, and the audience lined up tenfold for him after the concerts.

Danny is on his way to making a real name for himself :)

  2. Glad Danny is networking with other up and coming country artists; these are musicians whose music more closely parallels his own; although they all draw from prior traditionalists (Danny most closely from Vince Gill, Wynona Judd, Randy Travis in addition to more modern bands like Rascall Flatts)

I really like the fact that Danny has the confidence to go down in the audience and have fun!!

    Lol! Danny loves to surprise!
There is no doubt that he does like to be in close contact with his audience/fans. He asks at every concert if the venue will allow fans to run up to the stage (during seated venues) at the end.
And every one who wants a hug at Meet & Greets gets one :)
Of course they don’t have time for that during his long auto lines, but he always does an auto line of the venue permits and there is not another artist performing at the time.

  3. Thanks for a great round-up! Danny’s performances and confidence level have really soared in the past year. October was a stellar month as I saw two of his shows and they were second to none! He deserves that ACA as the Breakthrough artist of the year so I hope it happens.

  4. I think that the upcoming award events for Danny, ( the CMA’s, AMA’s and ACA’s) are going to be fun and exciting. I think we will get really nice coverage of him co-hosting the AMA’s red carpet, and possibly nice coverage of him at the ACA’s as well.

Especially if he wins his award, which I think he has a good shot of doing. I am looking forward to watching Danny at these upcoming awards events.

I am also interested in seeing what Christmas song he is recording and wonder if it’s a classic or a new Christmas song. I know that around the holidays, some Country artists will release their versions of Christmas songs to radio. I wonder if Danny will do that as well.

Also I heard that Danny did an acoustic version of “Get Away” at one of his recent concerts. I am interested in hearing that song performed that way.

Because the live performances of that song are usually fast paced and very energetic. I am interested in hearing how the acoustic version of that song sounds like.

  5. Because the live performances of that song are usually fast paced and very energetic. I am interested in hearing how the acoustic version of that song sounds like.

Me too, Jx223. That song is a rocking song and with the awesome scream/whoop at the end of it, it would be really interesting to see how he would do that in an acoustic version! I wonder if he left the scream/whoop in; he usually jams with either Justin or Matt on electric guitar while he is doing it.

  6. So much great Danny news to look forward too. But I have to say the one moment that will be a very high point is when the presenters are reading the list of nominees for Best Breakthrough Artist at the ACAs; and a close up of Danny is shown. At that moment, how proud his family must be. Of course I would love Danny to win, but even to get to that point is a huge accomplishment. And I do like the sound of how Danny is now being referred to in the media as an ACA nominated artist.

  7. Wow, Danny sure has been a busy man! And November is looking to be exciting, too, with all the awards shows coming up. Can’t wait to see if anymore surprises are announced.

I love the energy and audience connection Danny makes at his shows. So fun! man5ell – congrats on being able to attend two shows this month! One is never enough, is it :)

Thanks for the awesome post Steph! Great pics and vids, btw :)

  8. Steph I think you have outdone yourself with this one – Wow, what a great post! Excellent choices as usual on the photos and videos, and I love seeing all the great news about Danny. I am so happy about his ACA nomination and I can’t wait to hear his Christmas song. Danny’s version of O Holy Night is just knockout beautiful, but I’m guessing that what he has recorded will be something catchy and fun. We’ll see pretty soon! :)

  9. Interesting little story to share from the show at Prospectors which was a couple of hours away from my homebase.

There was a gentleman there affiliated with the country music club who was snapping pictures around the venue with a big ol’ professional-looking camera setup. I looked him up afterward after hearing him comment post-show in the lobby at some length about the show Danny and the band put on. He goes by Cowboy Kenn and his logo says he is “Country to the Bone!” On his webpage, he has posted his photo collections with numerous country acts and their fans from shows at the club. Just in the past year or so they include Luke Bryan, Gretchen Wilson, Bucky Covington, Chuck Wicks, Gloriana, Josh Turner, Justin Moore, Jamey Johnson, Jake Owen, and others.

As he came into the lobby, he made a number of unsolicited comments. He told concert-goers standing near me that they should be thrilled with having just heard a totally “kickass” live show. He described Danny’s show as easily in the top 10 he had ever seen at that club (this was not a young gentleman, believe he had been around the country music club scene in that area for many years).

He also said that he saw Danny as doing a good mix of country, pop and R&B sounds, which he believed to be in a “sweet spot” popular now for modern country music. Found that very interesting, as this was clearly a man who loves country music and he had nothing but great things to say about the show Danny put on and the songs he is doing :)

In addition to the comments he made after the show, Cowboy Kenn recognized Brandon Fraley as Brandon was walking out in search of some food post-show, and stopped him to tell him how good he and the band were. Aww.

  10. That is a great story Steph!! I believe if Country radio opens up a bit that we will see Danny find a place. If they are willing to let him in as a newbie with his sound and what a couple of others are doing he will soar.

Awww, thanks for that story Steph! I love those comments from “Cowboy Kenn”. Interesting how an older fan who has been around country a long time is open to Modern Country and really liked Danny’s show. Although maybe I just like “Country to the Bone” Cowboy Kenn because he said “Kickass”

  12. Thanks for the “round up” update on Danny, steph!! I love reading Danny blogs like this. I love reading the great reviews he is getting all over the place. I’m looking forward to this fall with everything going on with him…the AMAs, the ACAs, would love to see him get a performance slot in the CMAs (heck, GWENYTH gets a slot!!!), and the CHRISTMAS SONG. I can’t wait to hear it. :)

  13. OMG! Wow! I love how Danny can jump all around, dance, bend over and lean down, and never miss a note! Awesome!

Thank you to tulipgirl42, tonicny, all all the peeps who take video and photos at Danny’s concerts. It makes us all feel like we were there. And thanks to Steph6449 for putting up the post.

I admit I’ve never been much of a concert-goer, B.C. (before Danny). But Danny’s concerts are addictive. He feeds off the energy of the crowd and gives it back ten-fold. I believe that with time, Danny will make a name for himself as a performer who put-butts-in-concert-seats. I’m really not surprised that Cowboy Ken described Danny’s concert as “kickass.”

Country radio is a tough nut to crack. We shall see. Hopefully Danny will get exposure from the AMAs and ACAs, and that that will help.

Can’t wait to see Danny in concert again. He just has this incredible connection with the audience.

Thanks for all the yummy videos!

  14. Those are some great photos and videos, Steph! Danny Gokey is a lean, but muscled, singing machine!

I think on the video of “I Will Not Say Goodbye” Danny’s voice sounds simply aMaZing! And I love him on “Raining on Sunday”–the person taking the video really got some great close ups of Danny’s expressions.

Its been too long since I could go to a Danny concert. (It feels like once a month should be the minimum standard!) I’m really looking forward to his big events and an upcoming concert.

PS. Great side story about Danny from Prospectors, Steph.

  15. WOW!!! Danny is looking mighty fine in the picture used in the headline. I have heard nothing but great things about Danny’s concerts. Looking forward to his Christmas song and his 3d single. That is a great honor just to be nominated as new/breakthrough artist for the upcoming American Country Awards on Fox. I’m sure he will be in attendance at the CMA’s and ACA’s. Would love for him to present or perform at the ACA’s – haven’t seen him peform on TV since last years Idol season. That would definately be a treat.

  16. I really hope Danny does win Breakout Artist just cause I want to hear what he says!

It would be really nice for Danny to have some national exposure. In my eyes, he hasn’t had much so it would be nice to see him have the limelight one again.

Better yet, I’d love to see him perform on one of these shows but maybe next year!

  17. Canuck

We don’t know the lineup for the ACA’s yet,so there is still hope.

  18. Also I heard that Danny did an acoustic version of “Get Away” at one of his recent concerts. I am interested in hearing that song performed that way.

Don’t think it was acoustic, but I heard Danny perform “Get Away” at a small venue last March. No drums, just keyboards, guitar, and bass. Don’t remember if the latter were electric (*blush*), but I assume so. In any event, the stage was small, so Danny had to sit the whole time. I think he might have stood briefly, but definitely couldn’t run around. Acoustic or not, Danny’s performance of “Get Away” sounded different than on his CD. I liked it a lot. It sounded like a good (albeit rollicking) country song. And right when we thought the song was over, Danny and the band added a kind of jam session to the ending. I like the CD version of “Get Away” as well. But I think there was more emphasis on Danny’s voice at the concert, maybe because of the absence of the drums.

  19. Danny Gokey is a lean, but muscled, singing machine!

    You got that right, girl!

  20. I think on the video of “I Will Not Say Goodbye” Danny’s voice sounds simply aMaZing! And I love him on “Raining on Sunday”–the person taking the video really got some great close ups of Danny’s expressions.

I agree. It continues to astound me how Danny continually changes up the sound of his songs. He seems like a very organic singer, in the sense that the more he lives with a song, the more he plumbs its depths, sometimes taking it to surprising places. I love that about him. It’s one of the reasons that his concerts are never boring. They always sounds fresh. (And yes, I agree that ideally, a concert a month sounds just about right!)

Danny changed up “I Will Not Say Goodbye” yet again — just when you think he couldn’t sing it any differently. And “Raining on Sunday” remind me of his performance of “Come Rain Or Come Shine” — love the way he caresses the microphone.

The real world is calling, so I’m outta here for now.

I hope that wins and gets to perform at the ACA’s. I think it’s possible that both of these things might happen. Or that he might win and get to present if he doesn’t perform. It would be nice to see him get more national exposure since he really hasn’t had any in a while.

If he wins, I could see him being very excited like he was when he came back and performed on Idol. And I could see him getting some nice attention for an ACA win and getting a boost in album sales.

I think that the ACA’s are going to be fun for Danny and I think that AMA’s are going to be fun for him too. I can’t wait to see which celebrities he gets to interview and mingle with at those awards.

  22. If he wins, I could see him being very excited like he was when he came back and performed on Idol.

Oh, lol. Maybe not quite that excited although it was cute-funny on AI, ha. ;)

And I could see him getting some nice attention for an ACA win and getting a boost in album sales.

That would be nice. They’ve been very patient with their strategy to build the country foundation first, but I’m sure a little national exposure would be welcome by this point.

  23. I really hope Danny does win Breakout Artist just cause I want to hear what he says!

LOL, Canuck! I had been wondering the same thing; you never know what you are going to get when Danny talks (like a box of chocolates!), and talk he does.

Even if he doesn’t win, it would be nice if he was able to present an award or something.

He did such a good job at the ACMs when he hosted the orange carpet; he was spontaneous and funny but he did stay on track; so I think he will be more like that, than the “kid in a candy store” psyche he had going on with his return to AI- he was just so happy not to be grieving anymore I think and happy with his album that he went crazy with the Ryan interview. It cracked me up.

I’ll just be happy to see them pan the camera to him when they announce the nominees.

I would imagine we will see him on the red carpet for the CMAs also; I still remember how thrilling it was to see him there last year after no news at all. It will be difficult to top his A- fashion grade he received last year though from yahoo. But I’ll be watching to see him try ;)

  24. Me too, Jx223. That song is a rocking song and with the awesome scream/whoop at the end of it, it would be really interesting to see how he would do that in an acoustic version!

But I think there was more emphasis on Danny’s voice at the concert, maybe because of the absence of the drums.

I think that sometimes Danny’s live performances of “Get Away” come off as funkier than the CD version of that song. During one of the live performances of that song that I saw, it sounded pretty funky. The background music from that particular performance kind of sounded like something you might hear at a hoedown.

I had heard that the doing the acoustic version of the song he did recently that there seemed to be more of an emphasis on his vocals. I am definitely interested in hearing the acoustic version of that song.

  25. I would imagine we will see him on the red carpet for the CMAs also; I still remember how thrilling it was to see him there last year after no news at all. It will be difficult to top his A- fashion grade he received last year though from yahoo. But I’ll be watching to see him try

I am interested to see what Danny wears as well at all these events. My favorite outfit he has worn so far to an awards show was the outfit he wore to the CMT awards. I wonder how he will dress for all the awards ceremonies coming up including the AMA’s. I hope he will wear some nice suits. I definitely think he should wear a nice suit for the ACA’s, especially since he might win and get to present on that telecast.

  26. Awesome Danny round-up Steph….thanks again for all you put into these for us fans here at MJ’s!

Great videos and I love the picture at the top! I second those that want to hear the acoustic performance of “Get Away”. Danny has stated that song is technically his most difficult to sing, and I imagine it is even more so when some of the instruments are stripped away. I love how he challenges himself vocally instead of choosing “safe” songs to sing in this type of setting!

Thank you for including a video of “Raining on Sunday” too…he just nails that song! I really hope his next album includes this type of song…so powerful and romantic (as stated above, like what he did with “Come Rain or Come Shine”).

  27. The past 2 weeks has been great for Danny fans, as Steph pointed out, there’s the AMA red carpet co-host assignment, the 5th visit to GOO in December, and of course the biggest news was the ACA nomination. I like the fact that Danny’s record label and management keeps working in finding him the opportunities to build up his credentials in country music.

I think it’s great that he had the opportunity to perform together with The Band Perry and Steel Magnolia – two of the rising stars in country music who have been receiving lots of positive reviews from country music critics. And the fact that he was considered the headliner and was assigned to perform at the center stage in that WYRK-FM concert really indicated how Danny was perceived by the organizer.

  28. Just watched the videos and they are great. Danny’s voice is in top form. I love the very close-up videos by Tulipgirl – you can see the honestly and sincerity in Danny’s performances and also how darn cute he is.

  29. I thought he was so cute when he returned to AI, so excited and just talking a mile a minute. I remember he said something or tweeted something the next day that made it sound like he was a little embarrassed about it, but I didn’t think he needed to be – I think that “kid in a candy store” excitement about life is one of the most endearing things about him. He can be calm and collected when he needs to though, as someone mentioned earlier he showed that very well doing the Orange Carpet thing for the ACMs, that went really well.

  30. My favorite outfit he has worn so far to an awards show was the outfit he wore to the CMT awards.

Was that the white jacket w/black lapels along with the darkened glasses? He looked pretty Hollywood!

My fave was his very first outfit that he wore to the CMAs last year with the lilac shirt; and they darkened his really spiky hair.

OMG, what have I become that I remember the outfit an artist wore from a year ago?

I think he really looks nice in everything he wears. My fave might be just tshirt and jeans. Except the clothes they dressed him in for Idol. Barring the black clothes w/leather jacket that he wore twice, the rest were a little ‘different’, lol.

Ok, better get back to Packer/Vikes game

  31. I thought he was so cute when he returned to AI, so excited and just talking a mile a minute. I think that his excitement during his Idol performance was one of the reasons why he sold as well as he did, that week with his album sales. I thought that he definitely did a good job advertising himself and his CD. Hopefully if he does win the ACA he will get a nice boost in album sales, and more people will want to know about him.

Also if he performs on the ACA’s, I wonder what he will perform. I wonder if he might perform his next single. Or since the awards are in December and he has a Christmas song coming out maybe he might be apart of group of artists singing a medley of Christmas songs.

The ACA’s also said they will show some never before seen
collborations, maybe he might be apart of one of those.

Was that the white jacket w/black lapels along with the darkened glasses? He looked pretty Hollywood!

That was the outfit. I also liked the outfit he wore for the CMA’s. I didn’t really care as much outfit he wore for the ACM’s. But I do think he has had some nice outfits. I would like to see him wear some nice suits.

  32. I think Danny wears clothes very well for his body type. I just hope the stylist does a little more research this time..no more faux pas (the twin jackets cannot happen again) :)

  33. Could Danny Gokey possibly look more like George Michael? I half expect him to get coked up and smash his Land Rover into a rest stop bathroom while singing I Want Your Sex with his pants down.

    Disturbing.

  34. Could Danny Gokey possibly look more like George Michael? I half expect him to get coked up and smash his Land Rover into a rest stop bathroom while singing I Want Your Sex with his pants down.

    Disturbing.

    LMAO!

Rest assured Negativo- I would be willing to bet we will never see anything vaguely similar to that scenario with Danny Gokey. I wouldn’t mind if he got just a little wilder in his habits, to be truthful ;) He makes me feel evil :)

Now what did George Michael ever do to you to cut such a deep wound in your psyche?!

George was a mighty fine man in his day; and although I think Danny usually looks like Robert Downey Jr, esp. with his glasses off; he can resemble George when he has the tinted glasses on- I consider that a compliment!

  35. Lol, negativo.

I don’t think that people thinking Danny resembles George Michael is a bad thing. I think that George Michael was a nice looking man when he was younger. And I don’t think that Danny will do the type of bad stuff that George did.

I would be willing to bet we will never see anything vaguely similar to that scenario with Danny Gokey.
George was a mighty fine man in his day;… he can resemble George when he has the tinted glasses on- I consider that a compliment!

I agree with these statements of yours Indigo.

  36. I agree certain1 that Danny wears clothes very well…he has really learned to choose clothes that accentuate the fact that he keeps himself in great shape physically, and he is incredibly photogenic too. Add to that his fashionable eyewear and his striking resemblance to Robert Downey Jr. and it is no wonder he keeps getting invited to host these high profile red carpet events!

About his “kid in a candy store” zest for life…it is definitely one of the qualities I am drawn to, and I don’t think I am alone in that. I loved how excited he was on his return to the Idol stage that night!

I agree with Lucy1234 that it is indeed an honor to be nominated for an ACA with only having an album out for 7 months and considering how many artists there are vying for that honor. I imagine if he did win ACA Break Through Artist of the Year though we would see that excited kid we saw on Idol again!

  37. LOL Negativo!!

I am not a gambling person, but I would bet the bank that Danny will not be involved in the scenario you just described!

  38. he was considered the headliner and was assigned to be performed at the centre stage in that WYRK-FM concert really indicated how Danny was perceived by the organizer.

That’s certainly a good sign that Danny was considered the headliner. I also heard he had the most fans lined up for autographs after the concert.

Beyond how great Danny sounds in concert, his ability to talk/interact with the audience during a show really adds to the connection he makes with his fans. I think this is demonstrated in the video of I Will Not Say Goodbye-plus I love his facial expressions!

  39. I don’t really get the George Michael comparison at all. But I do remember having a crush on George Michael when I was in junior high and Wake Me Up Before You GO Go came out….lol. He was good looking.

Anyway, I’m so proud of Danny these days. I’m looking forward to seeing his coverage of the ACAs and hearing the new Christmas song!

  40. I don’t really get the George Michael comparison at all. But I do remember having a crush on George Michael when I was in junior high and Wake Me Up Before You GO Go came out….lol. He was good looking

    lol. Hi aek. :)

I think it’s the tinted sunglasses that Danny wears sometimes that cause people to say that he looks like George Michael. I thought he did look like him in the pics of Danny from disco night on Idol.

I had posted this pic of Danny before from that night. Do you see a resemblance to George in this pic?

    http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/1408/dannyallisondisconight.jpg

Also someone once posted pictures somewhere of Danny and RDJ doing a similar pose side by side and they really did look alike. If I could find those pictures, I would post it.

  41. Hi aek :)

That could be it about the sunglasses, but in general I don’t think Danny looks much like George.

I do get the RDJ comparisons though, especially when Danny takes off the glasses.

  42. George was a mighty fine man in his day; and although I think Danny usually looks like Robert Downey Jr, esp. with his glasses off; he can resemble George when he has the tinted glasses on- I consider that a compliment!

I’m not seeing the George Michael resemblence but Danny has always reminded me of Robert Downey Jr. The first time I saw him on Idol I turned to my daughter and said he looks a lot like RDJ. When I watched Sherlock Holmes, I thought I was looking at a mature Danny. His resemblence to RDJ is what made me take notice but after that it was all about the voice.

  43. Jx223, Well, I suppose the scruff and shades look like George, but I don’t really think that Danny looks like him. Although, I don’t think it’s an insult to say that he looks like George Michael. As far as RDJ, I can see why people say that they look alike, but I actually think Danny has a nicer face, but that’s just a personal preference.

  44. I half expect him to get coked up and smash his Land Rover into a rest stop bathroom while singing I Want Your Sex with his pants down.

Well that’s not going to happen any time soon! And yeah, I was one that had a big crush on G.M. and thought he was adorable back in the 80’s. But I think big crush and adorable are where the similarities end between G.M. and D.G. :) lol

  45. negativo that “George Michael scenario” is pretty funny, I have to admit of all the times I have imagined what it would be like to hear Danny sing different songs, that particular one had never crossed my mind!

Danny is lucky that he can wear about anything he wants to and look good, I know I’ve said this before but I think that with relatively long legs and broad shoulders for his frame, and of course with his level of fitness, he doesn’t need a whole lot of fussing to look good.

Hi aek, I like Danny’s face better too.:)

  46. Jx223, yes, I do think so. I also remember seeing it really strongly when Danny was a guest on the Big D and Bubba radio show (those guys put video of it on their site). I remember the resemblance was mentioned and Danny took off his glasses and looked at them and they both kind of freaked out, it was cute. And then they got him to be Ironman and Rawr, which was adorable. I still manage to work in a Rawr on twitter at Danny every once in awhile, he probably thinks I am very irritating. ;)

  47. Although we know from watching that fun Big D and Bubba interview that Danny really is Ironman, rawwwrrrr!

I still manage to work in a Rawr on twitter at Danny every once in awhile, .

lol. :) I think that Danny and Robert resemble each other in the face. And that it’s more noticeable when Danny takes off his glasses.

  48. Thanks for posting that Big D and Bubba radio interview Steph…that was so fun! The RDJ resemblance is amazing when he takes off his glasses and “rawrs” at the camera! He is such a good sport and obviously comfortable in these type of interviews. I bet the radio people love having him on….he is so easy to talk with!

I could definitely see that resemblance in the side-by-side pictures you posted too Jx223….Danny could pass for a younger RDJ for sure.

  49. I understand a lot of people says Danny looks like RDJ, however, even with the 2 photos put side by side and with Danny taking off the glasses I still don’t see the resemblance – to me, their nose shape is not that similar – especially at the tip, the face well Danny has a much fuller shape, while that of RDJ is pretty rugged looking – their chin is also quite different – perhaps I am seeing only “trees” while others are seeing the “forest”??

  50. Steph, lol, I just noticed that you posted about the Rawr right before me! I’m going to watch that interview again, that was so cute. Thanks for posting it.

  51. Have you guys lost your collective minds! lol!

I think RDJ is kind of creepy looking. I don’t see any relation to DG.

I love to draw people, and I just don’t see it. I guess we all see things a little different.

“perhaps I am seeing only “trees” while others are seeing the “forest”??”

    That’s me too I guess.

  52. Looks like I missed a good conversation here.

Although I think that there is a vague resemblance to RDJ/George Michael, I really think Danny just looks like himself.

The fashion disussion is pretty funny, too. Especially those of you who know what Danny wore to what event! LOL! I just know he looked good. I do recall that he and Joe Nichols had the same outfit on one occasion, although I’m not sure whether it is as as much an obvious faux pas as two women wearing the same gown. I mean, c’mon. Only so many things you can do to a suit! Danny and Joe seemed cool with it.

I am looking forward to the possibility of Danny getting some national exposure in connection with one of the awards show. We shall see.

  53. Although I think that there is a vague resemblance to RDJ/George Michael, I really think Danny just looks like himself.

oh my goodness! You are reading my mind. Danny doesn’t look like anybody (that has been suggested here, imo). He looks like Danny!

  54. Steph, lol, I just noticed that you posted about the Rawr right before me! I’m going to watch that interview again, that was so cute. Thanks for posting it.

That one was fun, raawwwwrrrr ;) Hope Danny goes back on their show sometime soon again.

Have you guys lost your collective minds! lol!

    Haha. Possibly :)

  55. Lol iluvai! I have never heard RDJ described as “creepy looking” before, although I will say that age and hard-living have taken their toll.

The resemblance that I see in Danny and RDJ is in the eyes (which is probably why he looks more like him without his glasses), and somewhat the bone structure of his face. I do think that Danny will keep his good looks as he ages since he lives such a healthy lifestyle.

  56. Well not you!

Oh, lol! I need to work harder at it then ;)

Maybe tomorrow as it’s late tonight (today) :)

  57. asics85, I agree that the resemblance is mainly about their eyes. Their eyebrows are especially very similar.

  58. Great thread,Steph!
And many thanks for those who always share all their danny adventures through their videos, pictures and recaps. Love the reviews on his concerts too, they are always validation of how great a performer he really is, and how fans are loving his live performances! Looking forward to another Danny-thread again :)

  59. I have never heard RDJ described as “creepy looking” before, although I will say that age and hard-living have taken their toll

    .

I agree asics. I don’t think that RDJ is creepy looking. I do think that he looks/harder rougher than Danny.

But he is 15 years older than Danny and has lived a much rougher lifestyle than Danny has. Considering he was doing hard living for years, he could have ended up looking a lot worse than he does now. I think that he looks decent for his age and in spite of years of hard living.

The resemblance that I see in Danny and RDJ is in the eyes (which is probably why he looks more like him without his glasses), and somewhat the bone structure of his face. I do think that Danny will keep his good looks as he ages since he lives such a healthy lifestyle.

I agree with this part of your post as well.

  60. About 9 of us went to see Danny in NJ. at Prospectors. There were a few in the group I dragged kicking and screaming, but they came. We all walked out of that concert with such a Gokey buzz. The energy that came off that stage combined with his talent and personality were beyond description. All of us left Gokey fans, Including a Adam fan who now appreciates both men’s great talent.
I am a fan of the younger George Michael and although I think it is a compliment to Danny, just don’t see it.
And RDJ has just gotten better and better, I prefer him now to when he was younger. The younger RDJ and Danny really look nothing alike. They are both beautiful men and I consider it a compliment to have Danny’s name in the mix with theirs. Regardless of who’s reality it lines up with.

  61. Have you guys lost your collective minds! lol!

I think RDJ is kind of creepy looking. I don’t see any relation to DG.

LOL Luvai! Negativo creeped out by George, and you by RDJ

I must have lost my mind; I think RDJ is really hot- agree with Katlee, think he is hotter now that he is older and face more “rugged”.

Love that interview where the DJS make Danny “Rawrr”

I think he resembles RDJ around the eyes (although Danny’s are “squintier”) and around the mouth. But only without the glasses.

I do recall that he and Joe Nichols had the same outfit on one occasion,

Aha! Busted Hexer! You remember outfits too :)
It was especially funny because Danny looked like a mini Joe Nichols because he is so tall.

  62. He reminds me of a combination of George Michaels and one of the Village People.

  63. Aha! Busted Hexer! You remember outfits too

Indigobunting, I remember Danny & Joe wore the same suit on one occasion, but I couldn’t tell you what event it was! And I didn’t remember the white suit (still don’t), but I know I’ve seen pictures of it. Couldn’t name that event, either. So not quite busted!

  64. I think Danny is way cuter than RDJ. WAY!!!! All the comments have been fun to read though! :)
