X Factor UK 2010 – Top 12 – Results

John Adeleye has been eliminated from X Factor

John Adeleye and Treyc Cohen sing for survival.

Theoretically, it should have been Wagner going home. Actually, Wagner is a joke and shouldn’t be in the competition at all.

But I have to admit, he’s a hell of a lot more entertaining than the departing John Adeleye. Dull. Dull. Dull. I’m surprised he’s lasted this long. Last week, he had a good song and performed it well. This week’s trainwreck sealed his fate.

Was TreyC in the bottom 2 because viewers aren’t connecting to her? I really like her. She doesn’t have a chance to win, but I hope she outlasts the groups, whom I loathe.

X Factor UK eliminations! Who will be sent home tonight? Judge Cheryl Cole will perform her new single. Michael Buble will also perform.

I’ll be live blogging the results here!

Live blog and VIDEOS after the JUMP…

The X Factor finalists sing Cee Lo’s F*ck You, but the clean version “Forget You”. LMAO. (It’s the radio edit, but it still sounds stupid to me).

Long pointless recap of last night’s show is next. Zzzzz.

Michael Buble is next. He sings “Hollywood”. It was the first time Michael sang the song live.

5 more minutes to vote on X Factor!

Louis says Katy was the surprise last night. Dannii is proud of her boys, she was impressed with Rebecca. Simon liked Matt, Rebecca, One Direction. He says about 5 acts were good last night.

Cheryl Cole takes the stage to sing her new single “Promise This”. Her album comes out in the UK next week.

The eliminations begin! The contestants take the stage.

Treyc Cohen and John Adeleye are the bottom 2 and will sing for Survival. Treyc will sing “One Night Only” and John a Kelly Clarkson song. Nice knowing you John!

John sings “Because of You” and he’s singing under pitch and forgets the words. It’s a misfire. Holy cow. He’s blowing it up there. Yikes. I feel a little sorry for him. I think he probably already knows he doesn’t stand a chance against Treyc.

Treyc sings “One Night Only” from Dreamgirls. She’s killing it. No way will the judges eliminate her.

Louis sends home Treyc, Dannii sends home John, Cheryl sends home John, and Simon sends home John. About John, Simon says we never saw the same singer who performed at the auditions. John is eliminated.

  1. I really hope Belle Amie goes. I’m usually all for the girl groups, but something about them irks me.

Can’t wait to hear Cheryl tonight!

MJ, is this the first year you’ve watched X-Factor live? Are you enjoying this better than Idol? I’ve been watching it for a few years from the US and I find the format way better than Idol.

  2. I don’t like any of Cheryl Cole’s songs and she can’t sing at all: but she’s very popular and she puts on a good stage show.

  3. Ah, so her debut album was triple platinum and she set a record or two with her singles?

Well, this new single is already #1 on iTunes, so well done, Cheryl.

  4. That’s a dumb result. They’re both good singers, even though neither was likely to win: it’s definitely going to be one of the younger categories this year.

    But Wagner?!

ETA: Oh dear John – that was baaaad! Makes me appreciate Kelly Clarkson all the more though!

  5. TreyC was far better – not that that was hard, compared to John’s dreadful performance! He really showed up the limits of his vocals. She wasn’t perfect, but she’s a good singer.

  6. KarenC:

It’s British humour. There is a real VFTW contingent voting. He won’t win though, although it might be worth it to see the look on Simon’s face :lol

  7. I HATE when the judges vote for their own act when they perform abysmally. Just have the honesty to say that you didn’t perform well and it is time for you to go home. The judges better not pull that shit here in America.

They will, however there will be enough judges that the poorer act will still go home.

    Next week’s theme is Halloween?!

Hoping Danni lets Matt sing “Thriller.” I was semi-wondering why he didn’t sing it this week.

Should be fun. I’m already looking forward to next week.

  9. Well that was surprising about TreyC, probably because while it was an okay performance, it wasn’t great and it was in the middle. John’s had the same issue. He wasn’t terrible enough to mobilize people for him out of worry, and but not good enough to have gotten casual votes.

Well based on the previous performances and especially this week’s, John deserved to go over TreyC.

Shame though that Belle Amie and Wagner weren’t in the B2 as they both deserved. Oh well, they’re both cannon fodder and will be gone sooner than later.

  10. A little surprised by the B2, but demographics are against Treyc and I doubt there are many rock fans who follow the X factor. Belle Amie seems to have benefited from being the obvious act in danger.

I’m curious to see the voting results at the end of the season. My guess is that Matt and One Direction are leading the votes big, but I’ve got no idea if Cher is doing great or just enough to avoid the B2/B3

  11. I think the problem with TreyC may have been that she isn’t really a rock singer, that the song and performance was given to her. Even if that is the direction that she eventually wants to go in. It didn’t come off as an authentic rock performance to me, and it probably wouldn’t to a rock fan either. And it seemed like the judges kind of backtracked, first saying that she should do rock, and then saying maybe she shouldn’t. Though I thought she was more authentic doing the vote off song.

I do see a problem with the judges being a mentor, because you are not going to vote for your own artist to be voted off. I’m beginning to think that the way they are going to have the permanent mentor on AI this year might be helpful, to help the contestants with their performances if needed, but not actually be doing the judging. This only works, however, if they don’t stop the contestants from being the type of artist they want to be.

  12. Seems like most weeks will have double eliminations if they want the winner to have their single out before Christmas. There are only six more weeks until the finale, and there are still ten contestants to be eliminated.

  13. Louis failed John. He wasn’t even trying to make him relevant. He’s also failing Mary but she’s got enough buzz to survive a bit. Her parts in the group songs shows she really can sing more variety than she’s being handed by Louis.

I have no idea why TreyC was doing rock last night. It didn’t feel authentic any more than Liam doing Sinatra was during his auditions. TreyC’s got a big voice but I would be hard pressed to pick it out on radio. That’s something Rebecca has over her: distinctive voice.

Valentin432, while not necessarily reflected in votes, the Youtube views show Cher interest is massive and perhaps even more intense than for Matt and One Direction.

  14. Valentin432, while not necessarily reflected in votes, the Youtube views show Cher interest is massive and perhaps even more intense than for Matt and One Direction.

Yes, I think it’s hard to know how much those numbers are correlated with votes but no doubt that she is the one creating the most buzz right now. Cher is the wildcard because there’s never been a contestant like her but Matt is much more mainstream for this kind of competition and likely to pick votes from other eliminated acts, while One Direction and Cher have a strong fanbase but I don’t see that expending.
Even tough she has all her four acts, I don’t see Cheryl winning again, the odds for a girl winning are not good because of the demo and Cher/Rebecca are not the power divas that could belt the competition into submission.

Louis is probably right, Matt is the kind of contestant who is perfect for the voting demographics of the show and he is also among the most talented so he’s a safe bet to win.

  15. I don’t get why Wagner keeps making it through. He can’t sing or dance, and he seems like a nice guy, but rather clueless and seems to have no sense of embarassment. Is that his appeal?

  16. Valentin432, for me it’s too early to say who will win. Today I think Matt has a slightly better shot than One Direction but if I were betting now, I’d hedge, and pick Cher. This season has some interesting acts, like Rebecca, who may move up too. Much of it depends on quality of mentor’s song choices which is a little disappointing but also makes the final outcome less obvious at this point.

  17. I agree Treyc is not going to win the competition, but if she went home before Wagner that would be a travesty.

  18. Uggghhh…was Cheryl really singing? It didn’t sound like her at all, lol. It was auto-tuned and lip-synced to death but it still didn’t sound like her. Hey as long as it sells it’s all good. No wonder she likes Cher so much. Cher is still my guilty pleasure. The girl is spunky. Treyc was incredible in the sing off, wow! I knew John was going home, his song was awful last night.

  19. UK loves their cheese and that is why the Brazilian Ron Jeremy is still in the show. Hopefully he is sent packing soon as it’s just not funny anymore.

  20. I think that Rebecca and TreyC are in competition with each other for votes for the girl with a good voice, but Rebecca is more popular because she has a distinctive tone to her voice.

I think that Rebecca and TreyC are in competition with each other for votes for the girl with a good voice, but Rebecca is more popular because she has a distinctive tone to her voice.

Maybe that’s why they had TreyC try to go in a rock direction? To differentiate her more?

  22. Cheryl Cole’s song is my guilty pleasure lol. I think she is falling victim to what a lot of pop stars are falling victim to and that is Britney Spears Syndrome, also known as singing to back track. Kind of like Karaokem where you sing along to the music (Usher did it the other week).

  23. Maybe that’s why they had TreyC try to go in a rock direction? To differentiate her more?

Yes, it’s possible, but you don’t become a rocker overnight if you are not one, so I think that she was doomed to fail from the start.
TreyC’s problem wasn’t just the song choice because she has never been high in the polls, even after the first show when she had the pimp spot.
I’d be surprised if she made the tour, traditionally top eight for the X Factor.
Does she deserve it be in the competition more than Wagner? not in my book. People don’t vote for the best singer, but for those who entertain them the most, and it’s fair. Personally, I don’t care about Wagner’s performances, but there is nothing wrong with people finding him entertaining.

  24. Yes, it’s possible, but you don’t become a rocker overnight if you are not one, so I think that she was doomed to fail from the start.

Oh, I totally agree with that. I could see that she wasn’t really one.

Kind of think they were trying to imitate Adam’s peformance. Seemed to be same arraingment and type of performance.

  25. What I find interesting is that their own terms and conditions state for weeks 1-4 that

    Voting results:

The outcome of the vote will be shown in the programme on ITV.

    Weeks 1 – 4 (inclusive)
The act with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated from the competition. The next two acts with the lowest number of votes will then face the judges.

    Weeks 5 to 7 (inclusive)
The two acts with the least amount of votes will face the judges.

    Weeks 8 – 10 (inclusive)
The act with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated from the competition.

    Final
In the final show, the act with the most votes will be declared the winner.

So why last night (only week 3) was that rule discarded? A favorite was in the bottom 3, or in complete last place perhaps? Someone commented on another blog that the announcement was made after the phones were opened. They would quickly know after a few seconds who could be in trouble. Or maybe they just doubted the chances of a favorite with their week3 performance.

As Simon himself has stated that he doesn’t like rules, should we be surprised?

    http://www.itv.com/termsandconditions/competitionsandvotes/thexfactor2010voteterms/default.html

  26. Hmm, the only reason they didnot did a double elimination (though the schedule is) : – TReyC is the lowest vote getters in top 12. And one of the producer fav is in bottom 3.

I am still surprise that Wagner had not touch bottom 3 even once yet . Louis already gave him all kind of what the heck song to sing , his performance was really really terrible. I will not suprise if he can even outlast Mary who now becoming boring to death with LOuis song choices and also her.

  27. My prediction for top 5:

Matt, Cher, Rebecca, One Direction and maybe Aiden. Belle Amie, Katie and TreyC will fight not to be in bottom 2 next week unless other judges AGAIN give crappy song to their singers next week.

  28. Louis failed John. He wasn’t even trying to make him relevant. He’s also failing Mary but she’s got enough buzz to survive a bit. Her parts in the group songs shows she really can sing more variety than she’s being handed by Louis.

In Louis’ weak defense he did select a different song for Mary. But Mary didn’t feel comfortable enough and switched to her audition song during rehearsal. There seems to be a lot of that going on this year.

I thought Dermot made the announcement of a single elimination before he said the phone lines were open. Although I don’t pay too much attention to that since I can’t vote.

Yes, he said that at the end of the performance show so we can put all the conspiracy theory to rest I think.
