Christian contemporary artists Danny Gokey and Mandisa are joining forces this fall for a tour of the US. The American Idol alums (seasons 8 and 5 respectively) announced most of the dates this morning (June 27) on social media.
Called “Rise out of the Dark,” combining the names of their latest albums, the tour will kick off with a show in Kansas City Missouri on September 28. Also coming along as an opening act is Danny’s fellow American Idol 8 singer, Jasmine Murray, who debuted her first Christian contemporary single “Fearless” earlier this year.
“It’s going to be a night of hope, a night of healing and a night of entertainment,” promises Danny in the tour announcement video. Adds Mandisa: “It’s going to be amazing, and we really want to see you there.” The duo have more than just American Idol in common. On their latest albums, both singers share how faith helped them through difficult times. In Mandisa’s case, she struggled after the death of a friend and through a subsequent depression. Danny, as Idol fans know, lost his wife suddenly before he auditioned for the show, and weathered career challenges after the competition was over.
