  1. Howard Stern would actually be a good choice to replace Howard Stern, and that deep inside, Howard really has a heart.

You mean Howard Stern to replace Simon, not Howard Stern, right? Just want to make sure I was understanding it.

And I wish Danny nothing but the best, but country music, yeah. Not sure if I can stand to listen to even 30 second clips. I’ll try after work.

  2. Enjoyed listening to these longer samples of Danny’s album, especially the songs we haven’t yet seen much, or at all, on his acoustic tour.
Really impressed with Get Away, for one. It rocks. Crazy Not To sounds pretty promising also, and it’s fun to hear the studio instrumentals with some of the songs we’ve heard only as acoustic versions, like the Jeffrey Steele song Tiny Life.
The song Kara co-wrote for Danny I Still Believe also sounds very good in the studio version; that’s one that’s definitely grown on me more and more after first hearing it on a radio station YT clip before Christmas.

This is another interview with Danny today by country radio station, recorded by a Chinese fan

  3. Good luck to Danny. The samples sound good.

On the subject of Howard Stern, though, please! I will switch off for good.

  4. Really impressed with Get Away, for one. It rocks. Crazy Not To sounds pretty promising also

I really like what I heard of “Get Away” as well. I think that sounds like a fun, uptempo song. And I also like what I heard of “Crazy Not To”. I am glad to see that Danny has at least one romantic song on his album. I think that Danny’s album will turn out to be a solid album.

  5. I heard Danny this morning on a radio station in Dallas/Ft. Worth. They had it live, which they said was the first time they did that,:-). I don’t know if those links from that Chinese fan are the same, steph6449, but I enjoyed hearing him. I will give these longer samples a listen when I get a chance. I heard portions on the iTunes U.K., but I love hearing more until I can get the cd. As far as Danny thinking Howard Stern would be a good replacement: sorry, Danny. I love you, but I have to disagree, lol.

  6. CFIdolsfan, the links I posted from the Chinese fan were interviews the station did before the performance that was livecast later. I had some kind of technical issue and wasn’t able to watch the ustream of the performance :(

Did get it running at a later point when they showed Danny doing a M&G and taking pics with fans. Lots of fans, it went on for at least a half-hour or so that I could see. Sounds like the performance video should be up at the station’s website sometime today.

I still can’t seem to get it running at the ustream site, but the ustream caption for that event shows almost 18000 peeps watched. Good for Danny.

Err, yeah, not too fond of that idea myself. Lol.

  7. There are some voices I just love to hear usually regardless of what they’re singing. Danny is one of those – he is like Bo Bice for me. I hated that crap 1st post-idol CD Bo put out, but I still listen when one of his songs shuffle in on my ipod because I just can’t resist his voice. I’m gonna like this CD better than Bo’s.

  8. Listening to the Get Away preview clip, have to giggle just a tiny bit though.
This is Danny so when he makes his get away to the beach, he has a “cold drink.” With nearly any other country artist, that would be a beer for sure ;)

  9. This is one solid album, if you love Danny’s voice and singing you will really love the album, this is so Danny and the songs really highlight Danny’s vocal strength and talents.

I would encourage peeps who are skeptical about Danny going or singing country take a listen to all the songs and I am sure there are a few songs that you’ll like, there’s a good mix of songs some like IWNSG I think will do well in AC charts.

  10. there are some voices I just love to hear usually regardless of what they’re singing.

I fell the exact same way. Not a country fan, but I love his voice so much will buy anything.

And actually, I love every song I”ve heard from this country album. Very soul infused, with R&B and Rock influences. Its gonna be good.

Lol, at the “cold drink”. Danny is such a boy scout! But for some strange, odd, reason I find it kinda sexy! What’s wrong with me, lol.

  11. Lol, at the “cold drink”. Danny is such a boy scout! But for some strange, odd, reason I find it kinda sexy! What’s wrong with me, lol.

Ha. It is kind of attractive though that someone knows who he is and sticks with it.

The country music community seems like a good fit for Danny. I can see why in interviews he’s emphasized how out of place he would have felt in the pop scene today.

  12. Thanks for posting the snippets MJ. I like all the songs on Danny’s album. I Will Not Say Goodbye is quickly becoming my favorite and I also really like Crazy Not To. Can’t wait to hear the full versions. I am with those that say they could listen to almost anything Danny sings – his voice is that good.

  13. Love all these snippets! Thanks MJ <3

And I'm not a country fan in the least.

Danny is going to have a great album. He should be proud.

Can't wait to see him on tour with Sugarland.

  14. CFIdolsfan, the links I posted from the Chinese fan were interviews the station did before the performance that was livecast later. I had some kind of technical issue and wasn’t able to watch the ustream of the performance

Thanks, :-). I had trouble getting on and staying on this morning, so I missed a few seconds of some of his performances. Hopefully they will have the interview up at the station as well. Those links you posted require me to download something on my computer, which is too old for me to really do that successfully.

  15. Interesting in the second video here, Danny identifies who wrote Life on Ya, one of the songs we hadn’t heard much about, and says it is Jeffrey Steele. This is also the first radio station video I’ve seen of this song, although there was a fan video from the Nola’s concert last week. Looked very entertaining in that, but with the background noise was harder to make out the song itself.

The other two songs are What Hurts the Most and a pretty awesome version of I Will Not Say Goodbye. Certainly the DJ seems quite impressed — “wow, wow, wow.” Lol. Remarkable thinking about it, with the frequency of these radio station visits where Danny usually does at least several songs he is maintaining a consistent high quality everywhere he goes, even if to him perhaps it may be a little repetitive. Probably helps to be mixing in more of his new songs for some variety.

  16. I love the album clips, it’s great that there are so many potential choices for future singles. I am impressed and very happy that he was in such good hands with his producer in making this album. Beautiful voice, really good songs, and he’s doing a fantastic job out on the road, and we see the usual “OMG I met Danny Gokey and he was so awesome and he talked to me and he was so nice!!!!!!” reports from people who have seen him along the way. He is doing a great job with this opportunity, I really admire how he has handled it.

  17. I am very happy for all the buzz that Danny has gotten. He has really worked hard. Can’t wait to hear the full studio versions of the songs on his album. I am especially intrigue by Crazy Not To. This was a song that Brian Mansfield had mentioned. And my reaction when I first heard the snippet – this is a song that can be on a movie soundtrack..

  18. I could not be more pleased with the great support Danny has gotten from his record label. He will be going out on tour with Sugarland – what a great honor for a new artist. I can’t wait for his performance on AI Season 9. I can see that as a huge platform for debuting his album. It is mind boggling how his mentioned on Hollywood week this Wednesday caused a jump in his Itunes album pre-orders and increased traffic on his website. Danny seems really happy with what he’s doing. I am so glad he is away from all that AI comparative nonsense. Season 8 is long over. History.

  19. And I wish Danny nothing but the best, but country music, yeah. Not sure if I can stand to listen to even 30 second clips. I’ll try after work.

    Lol Truthiness!

Danny’s will be the first Country album I have ever bought, seriously!

Haven’t even bought Carries, just a couple of her singles.

But I do love every song I have heard so far; definitely more crossover country with a R&B or pop/rock flavor. And Danny definitely has not affected a twang and sounds like himself. Quite the variety of uptempo, bluesy, emotional and romantic ballad also.
