  1. WOW! Thanks so much MJ!

Danny is looking and sounding great! What a huge opportunity for him.

Thanks to the links. I’ll be back! You’re the best!

  2. Danny looks nice and I like seeing all the really nice pics of him performing last night. That crowd he performed in front of was huge, I’m sure he was probably happy to be performing in front of a crowd of that size.

The IGB pics are nice as well.

I am looking forward to seeing Danny be a co-host for the ACM orange carpet show and the day before ACM show. I am interested in seeing which country stars he will interview and seeing how that works out for him. I hope he does well with that and has a lot of fun.

  3. Danny is looking fine these days. Me likey. I am amazed at the size of the crowd. Lady Antebellum played right after Danny. Sounds like he had a great time performing. Definitely looking forward to seeing all his ACM hosting events this weekend. I think that will give him a lot of visibility.

    :)

I had saw that he got to play on the same stage that Lady Antebellum got to play on.

I am interested in seeing what Danny will wear on the orange carpet for the ACM awards on Sunday. Hopefully he will wear a nice suit.

And I think that him getting to interview arrivals on the red carpet should be interesting, and that he could have a lot of fun doing that.

  5. You can really appreciate his voice given this is an outdoor show and just a home recording video. I’ve watched quite a few of his recent shows on YT etc and he is a great performer with great stage presence and there’re lots of interactions with the audience. From tweets and blogs, even non fans agreed that he put on a great live show.

I find it kinda funny though that he talked about church and sang I still believe in front of a crowd who’ve probably done some gambling in the Sin City, well that’s Danny, LOL.

  6. Wow, what a crowd! I think Danny definitely benefited by opening before Lady A. Here is twit pic of the crowd:

That was pretty funny, but Danny is always himself! This was my favorite tweet I saw last night :D :

  7. I skipped Danny and just went for Lady Antebellum. They were awesome and the crowd was huge.

Saw Danny in Orlando last week at the House of Blues, and totally agree. He sounded phenomenal and ran through a high-energy show of nearly 90 minutes with a big crowd going along with him from start to finish. Very impressive and enjoyable.

I think it’s been very freeing for Danny in these more recent concerts with larger venues, full band backing him (up to five players now, which may be the configuration for Sugarland), and Danny up on his feet rather than tied to a stool as on those acoustic radio shows, lol.

Danny definitely likes moving around, not sure how he contained that on AI to the degree he did — but I guess those songs were just a minute and a half so he managed ok ;)

    LOL.

  10. So totally awesome! Danny was the only other artist that performed last night on the big stage, just before Lady A.

Danny knows them well. His sixth track off his album was co-written by Tom Douglas and Charles Kelley & Dave Haywood of Lady A.

They put on an amazing show. Can’t wait for Danny to open for them while on tour. It is going to be great!

  11. Throwing my 2 cents worth in here. I have not been a big fan of Danny in the past but after seeing him live at the House of Blues in Orlando last weekend he won he over. He is great in concert, great voice, stage presence, banter and interaction with the crowd was beyond my expectations. If you get a chance to see him perform live don’t miss it. Oh, and Danny is in fine shape I have to say.

    :)

I’ve seen him before in varying situations and he’s always been good as a performer and with that visible crowd rapport, but I was still surprised how strong he and the band were at the HOB show. They’ve really taken it up another level or two in performance, energy, and the complexity of what they are doing.

Danny’s team has been smart to have Danny building up his act before going into the higher profile events this spring and summer. If he can pull off a nearly 90-minute show as well as he did there, and a 50-minute show last night at what was probably his second highest-profile exposure to date (after going on AI9), he should have no trouble putting on an exciting solid set with Sugarland for however much time they give him.

  13. I saw Danny in Chicago on Thursday (private radio station concert) and wow.

He gets better every time I see him; he is so relaxed, confident and gives it his all.

His album is great; but I really enjoy his live performances the best (he is getting so much hotter than his adorkable AI days, lol!)

  14. Thanks mj for posting the videos and photos. It makes me happy to see how great he’s doing. The joy and energy that he projects onstage is so “Danny”, he had that even back on AI but he has really refined it. Steph, I agree with you, I think he’s ready for Sugarland. That’s great, because of course this tour is a tremendous opportunity for him to keep growing his fan base.

I really admire how he has approached this whole thing. People who don’t follow him closely might not be aware, but he has been working so hard, and he puts his heart into it whether it’s a performance for a small crowd at a radio station or a big event like this. And there continues to be constant reports back from people who talk to him at these events about how warm and affectionate he is to his fans. He is not taking anything for granted, he is going for it and it’s great to see things going so well for him.

  15. From writeup at CMT.com

Danny Gokey, the third-place finalist from last year’s American Idol, is also just getting started, but with a successful debut album, he already has a legion of fans who were pleased to hear “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me,” as well as his next single, “I Will Not Say Goodbye.” He’s a confident performer, belting out album cuts such as “Be Somebody,” “Get Away,” “I Still Believe” and “Life on Ya.” He also covered two of Rascal Flatts’ biggest hits, “What Hurts the Most” (which he had performed on American Idol) and “Life Is a Highway,” later tossing in Elvis Presley’s “T-R-O-U-B-L-E” to complement the old-school Las Vegas vibe.

  16. Really glad to see all the love Danny is getting. He has worked so hard for this. I am still boggle at the sea of people. IMO Danny’s team has done a wonderful job in setting him up with all these gigs.

  17. Danny Gokey will be interviewing celebs on the orange carpet prior to the ACM awards ceremony tonight! 6pm CT.

It will be aired on GAC website and I hope also on TV- GAC channel.

I’m glad he gets such a great opportunity. I think he will make a genuine, sincere (and hot!) interviewer.

  18. I <3 Danny Gokey! Can't wait to see him 4th of July @ Summerfest in Milwaukee! And I have meet and greet passes too! I am so happy for all of his success and that MJ has provided great updates on him!!
