Daily Numbers’ Thread – 11/08/16

This thread is brought to by the number 12 and standing still.

The Chainsmokers make it an even dozen with “Closer” holding the top of the Hot 100. Only 17 songs in the charts 58 year history has managed that. The song is dropping on all three contributing charts (all 3 of which it tops), but the number 2 song saw a 3% drop in Hot 100 points as well. “Closer” is the lowest selling number one on the digital song chart since January 2006. Things keep getting grimmer for sales.

Just like donuts left on the counter, the top 5 of the Hot 100 is stale. The Weeknd’s “Starry”, Twenty One Pilot’s “Heathens”, DJ Snakes “Let Me Love You” and D.R.A.M.’s “Broccoli” all stay in the same places. Ariana Grande switches spots with Bruno Mars, Zay Hilferrr (deal with it spell-checker) and Waylon Macall rise one spot.

The new comers to the top 10 this week are Rae Sruemmurd, Gucci Mane and Drake. While Drake has built a comfortable mansion on the top 10 hill, Rae and Gucci take their first trip to the hallowed ground. Helping to propel them is their song being featured in the latest internet meme – Mannequin. You know those guys who stand around tourist destinations and get paid for standing very, very still (with the occasional jump scare)? Well, now everybody is doing it and uploading it on youtube. I’ll link the Late Late Show’s tracking shot attempt below.

Live Nation made $3.21B in revenue last quarter.

Happy voting day Americans! I think I speak for the world when I say “Thank goodness that election campaign is finally over.”
