The name Courtney Barnett may ring a bell for some of you. The indie rock artist was nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy earlier this year. This week, the Australian native was the musical guest on the Saturday Night Live season finale featuring guest host, Fred Armisen.
A throwback to punk rock and riot grrrl bands from earlier eras, the trio of musicians performed two singles from Barnett’s 2015 studio album, Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, “Nobody Really Cares If You Don’t Go To The Party” and returning to the SNL stage later with “Pedestrian At Best.”
