  1. An IDFer posted…I was listening to Kjug this morning to hear what they had to say about the concert and after they played feelin it they said the crowd estimate was between 7 and 8 thousand the biggest crowd ever at that park for anything WHOO HOO SCOTTY

  2. Free show, right?

    EDIT: Yep, free show:

Join us & Scotty McCreery for a Free KJug Summer Concert. Sponsored by the Hanford Chamber, City of Hanford Parks & Recreation & Budweiser!!

  3. Yes and no. Free outdoor concerts in good weather will generally bring out large crowds, no matter who is playing. On the other hand, Scotty does seem to be pulling in good crowds wherever he has played this summer, so good for him. :)

  4. The weather is so nice in California. They would go out for performers they don’t even know and make a party of it.

  5. What girlygirl said.

I guess I’d just caution about how much that translates into a testament to any individual act’s individual appeal. There’s free summer shows, then there’s fair/festival gigs (where people also draw more than they’d typically draw on a regular tour), then there’s the regular club/theatre/arena/stadium scene. I mean, Carrie recently had a crowd of 52k+ at EverBank Field for the unveiling of Jacksonville Jaguars videoboards, preceding by a soccer match. Local media reported that the crowd more than doubled from the soccer match to Carrie’s concert. Here’s a pic of the soccer crowd and here’s a pic of the Carrie crowd. Free show though there was a VIP upgrade to the field option, so I’m not exactly going to argue this makes Carrie a stadium act. Kellie’s been known to draw 15k to street festivals. And so on.

But anyway if people show up, it’s an opportunity to win them over.

  6. Yup, just keep in mind there are different kinds of paying performances too…numbers from the fair/festival/casino scene generally don’t translate on a 1 to 1 basis to numbers on a regular headlining tour.

  7. Recent boxscores for Scotty’s headlining concerts (casinos omitted):

    95 Scotty McCreery Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall Fort Myers, Fla. March 27, 2014 $56,640 1,376 / 1,763 1 / 0 $59.50, $39.50, $29.50 AEG Live/in-house

  8. I don’t think he’s bringing in thousands at each performance. Somewhere between one to two thousand seat venues is his comfort zone.

  9. nice of you to compare him to Carrie and Kelly,,,,not too many AI At 20,,,accomplishing what he is,,,,,not even w/ some other person or band playing with. him….don’t see his numbers for any one else doing a solo tour this summer…(AI Alumni )

  10. LOL I wasn’t comparing them. My point in bringing up Carrie and Kellie (not Kelly) was to show that, as in Scotty or anybody else’s case, bringing in certain numbers in certain venues doesn’t make for a direct statement about the numbers they bring in live on a regular headlining tour. So it’s important to be realistic about what stuff like this really means.

  11. That’s all the most recent Billboard boxscores that were available at Pulse. Are you saying that since March of this year when Scotty was drawing 1-2,000 fans that his audience size (in general) has suddenly jumped to “thousands”? I very much doubt that. Do you have links to any official statistics?

  12. Doesn’t Phillip pull in those numbers? Probably also Kellie. I think Daughtry’s numbers are probably higher, and he tours internationally as well. I think Adam could easily pull in those numbers when he is headlining too (and like Daughtry, tours internationally). Of course, Carrie is way ahead of the whole pack, with Kelly behind her.

  13. P2 Is not touring alone…..which I stated clearly about Scotty…..P2 Has OAR fans buying tickets also,,,,,,and he isn’t getting higher venue numbers alone

  14. Phillip has pulled in the same sort of numbers as Scotty (1-2K) when he does solo shows

  15. P2 was filling ticketed venues in the 1500-range when touring solo, same as McCreery. The venues with OAR are larger.

Cook and Lambert were both at about the 1500-range on full-price-ticket, seated venues in their sophomore era. (I’m sure there are fans who’d be glad to share the exact average and maximum draws, plus debate the impact of coheadliners — but my point is that both were right in this range when on their own and not playing a festival or special event, so whether one had 1,601 as average draw and another had 2,206 doesn’t really matter. They’d have been booking the same venues in their sophomore eras.)

All of these people also had much larger audiences when they played festivals and for some special events. (Again, I’m aware their numbers aren’t identical, but that’s not the point. The point is that it’s normal to draw more at a free state fair appearance or a big community festival or a major holiday “do” than at a regular tour stop.)

  17. I guess I misunderstood also because I didn’t understand where Carrie fit in to this and thought it was a comparison.

I am just happy for Scotty having such a successful concert with great numbers.

I am a realistic Scotty fan and understand this was a different type of event. But it was still really awesome to see that crowd! Scotty is really working very hard touring and has a full schedule. But I know lots of idols are doing the same thing, working hard on their music and performing.

  18. At his headlining show at The Farm venue in NC the official number was 5,340. So even though that was a paying show, he still attracted thousands. This was May 31st as you know(but maybe not others who read this).

  19. Johnston County VB @JoCoTourism
    We’re out at @TheFarmNC with 5,000+ fans waiting for @ScottyMcCreery. #visitjoco

  20. That’s nice, but considering that The Farm is only about 30 minutes drive from Garner, N.C., that’s basically a hometown concert for Scotty, so I would expect that he would draw well there. Do you have any stats for Scotty’s draw outside of his home state this summer?

  21. Oh goodie…I get free tickets to the Peppermill…guess I know which show I’ll be going to.
