Clay Aiken became a dad this morning when his friend and producer, Jaymes Foster gave birth to a baby boy. Clay wrote about the birth in a statement on his website:
My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited, ” Aiken wrote. “Wow … 8:08 … 08/08/08. The little man is healthy, happy and as loud as his daddy. Mama Jaymes is doing quite well also.”
A Foster representative confirmed in May that she was artificially inseminated by Clay, that the two were not romantically linked and that they planned to raise the baby together. Today’s message on his website is the first statement Clay has made regarding the matter.
Clay’s unorthodox way of going about having a child was great grist for the rumor and humor mill. But when it comes down to it, a baby that comes into the world wanted and loved is a good thing. Congratulations Clay!
