Catie Turner dropped her new single, the propulsive “Nothing,” a song the American Idol season 16 alum dedicates to “Everyone who complains but doesn’t want to actually fix the thing ur complaining about.” Catie says, “i Hope u feel seen (we are in this together).”
In an email announcement, Catie writes, “I am an overthinking, overwhelmed musician with a talent in overcomplicating situations,” Catie continued, “I wrote “Nothing” after a very ordinary conversation with a friend, where they were telling me how they started a running regime. I started going on about how I wish I could run, and how I wish I could wake up at 6 am, and they replied, straight to the point: ‘you know, you always could do that'”
“And just like that, I realized that my love language is complaining and doing everything I can to make life harder for myself comes like a breeze to my brain,” Catie mused. “I hope you like it, and that if you, too, are a procrastinator/bullsh***er like I am, this can be your anthem.”
In the song, Catie sings, “Haven’t you heard I’m a bullsh***er by now. I don’t think I really wanna figure it out. I’ll sing the blues and run self-help books into the ground. I don’t think I really wanna figure it out.”

Earlier this week, Catie attended the iHeartRadio Music Awards and on the red carpet, she met one of her favorite pop artists, Avril Lavigne. The two took a few cute photos together. Fun fact: American idol season 14 alum and Atlantic Records label mate Jax took the photo. The singer took home the trophy for Best Tik Tok songwriter.

Speaking of TIk Tok: Catie has almost 394K followers and 11.6 million likes. Her latest promo for “Nothing” has earned almost 98K streams. Catie has hinted several times that the record company expects her to promote her music on social media. “I have nothing to post,” wrote Catie on a post promoting “Nothing.” “I have no message to say. But I have to promote my song or I will be fed to the crows…”
