HDD – Album Sales Prediction : May 30-June 5

If last week was all about how many units Gaga could sell, this week is all about how far Gaga will fall. Gaga looks to be on track to have the record for the lowest selling week following a million+ selling week. Of course, her stans would say that you have to take into account the Amazon 99cent special last week while last week they were arguing it was irrelevant. The Idolsphere is not the only place where numbers are spun.

Monday Morning Mediabase Update : May 30-June 5

Each week, we take a peek at the state of the Mediabase airplay charts. Who is gaining? Who is sinking? Who is just meandering along? Milestones were reached this week by both the first and latest Idols, the Oscar winning Idol, CMT’s reigning Artist of the Year and of course, the judges.

Billboard – 06/11/11

UPDATE: Read the official press release summarizing Scotty’s chart successes and upcoming schedule, “I am humbled and shocked by this news, ” says Scotty. “I can’t tell you what it means to me to be on the same charts as my musical heroes. I want to thank my fans and especially country radio for their support.”

As Billboard expert Fred Bronson predicted last week, Idol has reached its 300th number one on Billboard charts this week. The latest number one comes from the latest winner Scotty McCreery. He and Lauren’s new coronation singles are 1 and 2 on the Billboard Country Digital Songs chart. As they would say, with a bullet!

This is the daily numbers thread. The thread where we love numbers this big.

Idol Sales News – Week Ending 05/29/11

UPDATE: Scotty’s “I Love You This Big” official radio add date was 5/31. “It seems like the biggest opportunity this format has ever had.” says UMG/Nashville Sr. VP/Promotion, Royce Risser, about Scotty. According to Risser, Scotty will begin his country radio tour while on the Idol tour beginning July 1.

UPDATE2: Album numbers are in! Scotty’s compilation album bows at #12 on the BB200. More inside.

Scotty McCreery – “I Love You This Big” 171, 404 – #3 Hot Digital Songs, #1 Country Digital Songs
Lauren Alaina – Like My Mother Does: 121, 000 – #11 Hot Digital Songs, #2 Country Digital Songs

Given that their label has already taken out an ad bragging about their success, it’s pretty clear Scotty and Lauren are off to a really good start. Scotty has already racked up a record breaking Country radio debut, the 3rd best selling iTunes single for the week, has the 3rd best selling iTunes album for the week and a 171K in coronation single sales. He should achieve his first Billboard number 1 and have the record for the best selling debut week for a male country artist download track (recently set by Blake Shelton at 138K). Scotty’s single was added on 34 radio stations and HDD is predicting that he had the 11th best selling album of the week for his compilation of singles from the season (23, 785). Today, he reached Top 40 on the Mediabase Country chart. Not bad for a half a week’s worth of numbers.

HDD – Album Sales Prediction : May 23-29

Yesterday was the Memorial Day Stat Holiday, so HDD did not issue any sales reports. I expect they will have one today since the news is so big. Billlboard is predicting that Gaga will move 1.15 units this week which is the biggest opening since ‘NSYNC moved 1.88M units back in 2001. Those numbers have been juiced by Amazon selling the album for 99cents for two days last week, a Monday opening and a performance on Idol.

FINAL HDD NUMBERS:

1 LADY GAGA – Born This Way – 1, 110, 420
4 GLEE CAST GLEE: THE MUSIC, VOL. 6 – 78, 075
11 SCOTTY MCCREERY – AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 10 – 23, 785
39 LAUREN ALAINA AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 10 – 11, 318
