Season 12 of NBC’s The Voice is a little over three weeks away. That means it’s time to roll out the new promos. The season’s first clip features coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Alicia Keys and Gwen Stefani sharing thoughts on their biggest musical inspirations. PLUS we get a few brief glimpses of the brand new hopefuls. YAY.
“My biggest musical influence was probably my brother. Whoever he was listening to, that’s what I listened to. It was so loud,” said Blake, referring to his older brother Richie who died at 24 in a tragic car accident. The country singer was only 14 years old.
Alicia talks about her mother’s “impressive” record collection, and spending Sundays listening to music. What inspired pop singer Gwen Stefani? The Sound of Music!
Later in the clip, the coaches bring out the props as they fight for contestants and Gwen tries to woo a country singer by saying she “just did a country song with Blake Shelton! I got the hookup!” To which Blake fired back, “That is so inappropriate to talk about us hooking up.”
Additionally, we catch a glimpse of a singer crooning “Sexual Healing” by Marvin Gaye. Hm….
NBC recently announced season 12’s team advisors: Country singer Luke Bryan will aid Blake Shelton. Pop legend Celine Dion teams up with Gwen Stefani. John Legend joins forces with Adam Levine and DJ Khaled will bring some hip hop flavor to Team Alicia Keys.
On Tuesday February 7 the Knockout Round tapings take place at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. If there is a Key Advisor in the mix this season, expect the announcement soon. After the Knockouts, a Top 20 will be in place. Hopefully, we’ll get some spoilers.
