“Proved You Wrong” is a song Cassadee Pope wrote with Emily Shackelton and Phil Barton back in the days when she was a struggling indie artist, before she won season 3 of The Voice. The track, a tale of her early struggles in the music business, will appear on her Big Machine Records debut, Frame by Frame, due out on October 8.
“It’s about going through obstacles in my career – labels not believing in me, leaving labels and losing people’s attention,” Cassadee told Rolling Stone magazine. “But I took more of a relationship spin on it to make it more relatable. There are a lot of relationships where one person doesn’’t really understand what the other is doing, as far as their career, and they’re not being very supportive.”
Could “Prove You Wrong” be Cassadee’s crossover single? The album and single “Wasting all These Tears” are being marketed to country, but this particular tune is pure pop.
