Cassadee Pope Embraces Pop/Punk Roots in ‘What the Stars See’ (Audio)

Cassadee Pope What the Stars See

The Voice season 3 winner Cassadee Pope has just released her new single “What The Stars See.”

In a note to her fans, Cassadee wrote, “I am absolutely thrilled to give you my new single, “What The Stars See” featuring Karen Fairchild & Lindsay Ell.” The singer continued, “I followed my heart on blending my pop/punk influences with my country roots and this is what came to be! I hope you blast it nice and loud and dance around just like I did when I got the mix back! Thank you for your continued support!”

In an Instagram video, Cassadee explains how and why she brought her two musical worlds together. “I’m already so overwhelmed by your reactions and your support and your love,” Cassadee said. “I really did some reflecting last year…and what I stumbled upon is I know that pop/punk and pop/rock music is just as much a part of my musical makeup as country music.” The singer continued, “And instead of trying to water down either or I decided I’ll just blend them. I created something that I’m just so proud of and I feel so…authentic doing.”

Cassadee started her musical career as part of the pop/punk group Hey Monday, playing festivals like the Warped Tour. After winning The Voice in 2012 on Team Blake Shelton and covering country songs as part of her winning strategy, Cassadee turned to country music. She had a No 1 hit song with Chris Young, “Think of You” in 2016.
