The Voice season 4 winner has been performing the spunky power anthem in front of live audiences. “I’m unbreakable, I’m unstoppable, I’m a hero, like a phoenix from the ash,” she sings. It’s a departure from the singer’s torchy first single “Wasting All These Tears,” which climbed to the Top 5 on the country charts.
Her second single, “I Wish I Could Break Your Heart,” co-written with Ashley Monroe, may not have broken the Top 25, but it didn’t break the singers spirit. She told Rolling Stone in a recent interview that she “pulled from that [experience] in a positive way…I haven’t let it bring me down or make me want to quit. It’s actually added fuel to my fire.”
The upcoming album won’t be rushed. She told RS that she’s been writing 5 days a week for the past 7 months, with collaborators such as Liz Rose, Kip Moore, Nathan Chapman and Lady Antebellum singer, Charles Kelly.
“The sophomore album is in many ways scarier and more intimidating than the first one,” she said. “I want to make sure that I’m explaining myself and explaining where I am in my life perfectly with these songs.”
