The Voice’s Brooke Simpson on Songs of Faith and Inspiration – “I knew I wanted to do a spiritual song,” Brooke tells Parade.com about the song that finished No. 2 on iTunes. “I had shown my background as a Native American on stage. But Riverside Regional Medical Center, where Rogers was a resident in the family practice program, is taking steps to make sure his legacy lives on. In connection with Rogers’ family, the Riverside Foundation has begun a fundraising project to build a simulation laboratory that one day will bear his name. Rogers, who grew up in Portsmouth, had begun to develop a following as a singer as well. He performed on stage with the popular vocal group Boyz II Men, and his audition for “America’s Got Talent” — just a few weeks before he died — was well received by the judges. – Read more at DailyPress.com
