American Idol season 19 singer Casey Bishop signed with 19 recordings and its publishing partner BMG about four months ago.
The teen singer from Estero, Florida tells the News-Press that it was a big moment for her. “It was really great,” she says. “Because I was like, ‘OK, now I actually, for sure, 100 percent get to make music and get on a roll.”
American Idol announced a partnership with BMG earlier this year.

19 Recordings vp of music Elissa Felman told Billboard about partnering with BMG “Over the course of the last couple of years, I’ve really been pivoting 19 Recordings, just behind the scenes…as more of an artist development company.” The new agreement is part of a strategy to invest more time and energy in contestants who sign a label deal after the confetti flies.

“[We want to] give the artists the opportunity to grow,” says Monti Olson, executive vp and U.S. head of publishing for BMG. “Our development ideas won’t be nine-month plans; it’ll be 18-month plans…. We’re looking at it more as artist development versus ‘let’s just capture lightning in a bottle right now, and if it doesn’t work, we’re gonna move on.’”

Casey, who finished fourth in the 2021 season of American Idol behind winner Chayce Beckham, runner-up Willie Spence and 2nd runner-up, Grace Kinstler is currently writing, singing and recording new songs for an upcoming EP. She recently returned from a writing and recording session in Los Angeles. Soon, she’ll return to L.A. for more work in producer/singer-songwriter Chris Greatti’s home studio.
According to the News-Press, Casey started writing songs with Greatti, who also worked with Yungblud and Blink 182, the day after the American Idol finale in May. “Then I just kept going back and forth over there,” she says, “and we just keep on writing bangers.” Casey was known for her big voiced renditions of classic and heavy metal rock songs.
She describes the new songs she is writing as rock and alternative rock. The songs have an angry and aggressive overtone says Casey, after being inspired by a past romantic breakup.
19 Recordings and BMG plan to release the EP, or at least some of the songs, in early 2022.

She hopes to perform a new song, “Kerosene” live for upcoming shows with classic rocker John Fogerty. She will serve as a special guest on all three concerts sponsored by Charity Pros for Heroes at Yuengling Center in Tampa (7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20), Hertz Arena in Estero (6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21) and Amway Center in Orlando (7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23). American Idol season 10 runner-up and country star Lauren Alaina is an opener for the Nov. 20 concert.
Her fellow American Idol contestant Wyatt Pike (who dropped out of the competition at the Top 16) will accompany her performances on guitar.
