Carrie Underwood’s Fan Inspired “Smoke Break” Lyric Video

Carrie Underwood recently asked fans to share photos depicting what they do to relax and get away from it all–even if just for a few minutes. The photos keep within the theme of the American Idol season 4 winner’s latest single “Smoke Break.”

The song was inspired by breaks Carrie and her co-songwriters, Hillary Lindsey and Chris DeStefano took while working on the lyrics.  The fan-fueled video features photos of folks playing with their pets, sipping on coffee, enjoying a libation, hiking, fishing–you name it! Practically every fun thing–you can do in public–but the title of the song. Heh.

“‘Smoke Break’ has really taken on a universal meaning for so many fans as far as how they take their moments to relax and escape,” Carrie told Rolling Stone Country where the video premiered. “It was so fun to see all their photos on how they spend their breaks!”

The single, from the singer’s upcoming album, Storyteller, due out October 23, is one of 6 songs co-written by Carrie with longtime collaborators including Lindsey, Ashley Gorley and Brett James. She also solicited tunes from new sources including songwriter-producer Zach Crowell (Sam Hunt, Jake Owen) and Jay Joyce (Little Big Town, Eric Church), who produced “Smoke Break.”

Carrie has already released the official “Smoke Break” music video. Check that out HERE.   Plus, watch the singer debut the song live on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Kimmel HERE.
