Carrie Underwood has said in interviews that her forthcoming album, Storyteller, isn’t full of “mommy songs.” But she did promise one, and “What I Never Knew I Always Wanted,” just released today, is it. Co-written with Brett James and Hillary Lindsey, the lovely mid-tempo ballad is about how sometimes we think we’re just fine being alone, until the right person comes along to show you a different way.
Next week includes a blitz of appearances ahead of the album release, including the Today show on October 23, a guest judging stint on the Project Runway finale, November 5 on Lifetime, a performance on the Grammy Sinatra 100 special, December 1 on CBS, and more.
Storyteller comes out on Friday, October 23.
