Four milestones this week – one from the X-Fator, one from The Amazing Race and two from The Sing-Off.
One Direction’s “Perfect” explodes onto the charts this week. The new single was dropped on Friday and was parked at the number one position on iTunes for most of the weekend. This is their third single dropped in anticipation of their fifth album (Nov 13th). The song debuted at 50 on the Pop chart. The debut single (“Drag Me Down”) from that album is charting on the 3 mainstream charts and is currently 7th on the Pop chart.
Also debuting this week is Canaan Smith’s “Hole in a Bottle” on Country. His previous single went to number one on the airplay chart after a long run and if you thought that would pave the way for his second single, you would be wrong. This single has been out for a while and has just crawled into the top 50. It can take a while to get long-lasting attention on Country radio.
Pentatonix has two milestones this week with their original single “Can’t Sleep Love”. The song went top 20 on AC and top 40 on HAC. Their album was released Friday and they are currently number one on the released charts (Bieber is ahead of them, but his album does not drop until November 13th).
