Canadians claim Underwood stole No. 1 hit – Two Canadian musicians and writers claim in a lawsuit filed in federal court in Nashville last week that country star Carrie Underwood and her writing team copied them for her 2014 No. 1 hit “Something in the Water.” Lyons-Savage and McNeill claim they wrote a song called “Something in the Water” in 2012, which was pitched to Underwood in 2014 for an upcoming album. Underwood and her team reportedly declined to record the song, but then shortly after wrote their own song called “Something in the Water,” which went on to win a Grammy Award and achieve platinum status.
