It’s a month in a year, so there must be a television network trying to attract country viewership with an awards show! Here are your nominations for the 2016 CMT Music Awards, and to be fair, CMT is the MTV/VH1-equivalent for country music fans and the CMT Music Awards are the country version of the VMAs. These awards are fan-voted, and we have a number of talent show alum nominated, including Carrie Underwood with a pack-leading three nominations, Adam Lambert and Leona Lewis. Also nominated? Fans can vote for these awards over at CMT.com. The site is teasing an additional category to be announced on 6/1. Perhaps a collaborative category, where Cassadee Pope and Chris Young could be nominated? The 2016 CMT Music Awards will air live on CMT and CMT.com (and possibly TV Land, as was the case in 2015) on June 8, 2016 at 8p Eastern. Hosts are TBA, but here’s my annual plea that CMT finally bring in Kellie Pickler for the job.
