Camila Cabello, Grace VanderWaal 2017 Billboard Women In Music (VIDEO)

Simon Cowell should be proud. Camila Cabello and Grace Vanderwall, alums from two of his singing shows, X Factor US and America’s Got Talent, respectively were honored at Thursday’s (Nov 30) 2017 Billboard Women in Music Awards.

After singing her latest hit, “Havana,” Camila was presented with “Breakthrough Artist” by “friend and fan” Diplo.

“The only reason I’m standing on this stage and on this soil in this country is because of one woman, my mom… thank you to the woman of life.” She said in her acceptance speech. She recalled her mom telling her, “the only way to live life is to live it intensely” and ended her remarks saying, “I have the most incredible example of what it means to be a woman… this is for my mom.”

Thirteen Year old singer/songwriter Grace Vanderwall, winner of America’s Got Talent 2016 choked up with emotion as she accepted the Rising Star Award from one of the show’s judges, Heidi Klum. Prior to the presentation Grace performed her single “Moonlight” from her debut album Just the Beginning.

The young singer described the recognition as “life-changing” and “an incredible blessing,” mentioning “rough waters” and thanking people who had “built bridges” to help her get across. She ended her remarks by thanking everyone who had “worked their butts off” on her behalf.
