Cameron Bure and Paula Faris To Join The View

Casting is coming together for next season of The View. It was announced last week that conservative journalist, Nicole Wallace, would be leaving the show. She follows Rosie O’Donnell and Rosie Perez out the door.

Now, Variety reports, that ABC is in final negotiations to add Candace Cameron Bure and GMA Weekend anchor Paula Faris as co-hosts of the daytime talker in the fall. Both personalities have experience filling in on the show. The women would complete the panel for season 19 which is set to include moderator Whoopi Goldberg, actress Raven Symone and comedian Michelle Collins.

According to Variety’s source, Faris’ deal would be part of The View panel Monday through Thursday. She would take Fridays off to prepare for her second job as the co-anchor of GMA Weekend.  ABC is hoping the anchor can fill the show’s “journalist spot,” much in the way Barbara Walters did when she sat on the panel.

Cameron Bure will be the house Republican.  A conservative born-again Christian, Bure made headlines when she sparred with Raven Symone over the rights of an Oregon bakery to refuse to bake a cake for a lesbian wedding. However, scheduling will be tight. Bure starring in the Netflix Full House spinoff Fuller House which shoots through November in Los Angeles, while The View tapes in New York.  The network wants the actress to appear on The View for some weeks. She’ll fly to Los Angeles to shoot her Netflix series on others.

Other changes ABC is considering for The View: Live Friday shows which would allow the discussion of current hot topics, and a panel of rotating contributors to keep things fresh. Possible part-time contributors include Molly Sims, Sherri Shepherd, stylist Stacy London and Nicole Wallace, if she decides to take a reduced role on the show.  If Bure can’t work out her schedule to work full time, she could potentially pop up on the show from time to time.
