When I saw that American Idol singer, Brielle Von Hugel cut a video with Postmodern Jukebox my hazy memories of her had a negative tinge. After reading back through some recaps, I recalled her bossy stage mom during season 11 Hollywood week cutting down some poor kid in her group. Brielle didn’t fall far from the tree either, if you know what I mean. Also, the singing was loud, bordering on shouty. Although she made it into the Top 24, she didn’t land a spot in the finals.
Years later, Brielle is no longer a teen. I’m guessing mom has taken a step back too. In this video with PMJ the singer does a respectably bluesy take on the current Selena Gomez hit, “Same Old Love.” PMJ loves them some Idol alums. Haley Reinhart, Casey Abrams, Joey Cook, Blake Lewis, Von Smith and Rayvon Owen have appeared in the vintage band’s videos. Clark Beckham recently tweeted from the set of one of PMJ’s videos.
