Blake Shelton’s new single “Came Here To Forget” written by Deric Ruttan and Craig Wiseman, describes a couple coming together for some drinks in a bar to get over their exes. The lyrics depict a pretty lonely life on the rebound–two jilted lovers desperately trying to drown their feelings in drink and physical affection from a kindred spirit.
The country singer paints a bleak picture of rebound romance, in stark contrast to his fellow The Voice coach and current partner in trying-to-forget, Gwen Stefani, who was positively giddy about falling for her new love in the made-for-tv music video Make Me Love You.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, Blake and Gwen began dating shortly after they both split painfully and very publically from their their respective spouses last summer.
The song is the first single off of Blake’s upcoming album If I’m Honest out May 20. The single has managed to hit #1 on the all genre ITunes chart.
