No wonder Blake Shelton is returning to The Voice for a second season! It looks like his stint as a reality show judge has given his career a real boost. Hits Daily Double predicts that his newest album, Red River Blue will top the sales chart next week.
Based on one-day sales from those music retailers not developing their locations into Internet cafes, Shelton’s new album Red River Blue will be the #1 album on next week’s HITS sales chart, with a total estimated at between 110-120k. That’s about five times the opening week sales of his last album, 2010’s Hillbilly Bone EP
ETA: Correction on the Blake Shelton numbers via Windmills:
Blake Shelton released 3 albums in 2010:
March 2010 – Hillbilly Bone EP – 71k
August 2010 – All About Tonight – 33K
November 2010 – Blake Shelton Loaded (Greatest Hits) – 23K (This is actually his latest album)
The blurb is a little misleading–both sets of original songs sold more than the Greatest Hits CD. Still, the new album has opened higher than the last 3 sets.
No wonder Jennifer Lopez realizes how silly it would be not to return to American Idol next season!
