Jimmy Fallon and Blake Shelton tested their lip reading skills in a game called “The Whisper Challenge” on Thursday night’s Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
How the game works: One person wears noise-cancelling headphones playing loud music. The other reads a phrase/name off of the card, while the headphone-wearing player tries to guess what’s said.
The most amusing aspect of this bit was Blake’s total annoyance with the game. “Is it something stupid that we’re doing? Do we keep score?” asked The Voice coach, whose guess for “Pumpkin Spice Latte” was “My Pee Pee’s Stressed Out.” What?
“This is the stupidest thing, literally, I have ever been apart of my entire career.”
Amazingly, Blake claimed to have NO IDEA who Sherlock star, Benedict Cumberbatch is! He looked at the card , “I have no idea how to even say this.” When Jimmy pretty easily guessed the name, Blake exclaimed, “That doesn’t even mean anything!”
“He’s nominated for an Oscar!” Jimmy replied, incredulous. “You gotta get out of the house, man!”
“This is bullcrap,” groused Blake. “These are the dumbest phrases!” He did, however, know the phrase “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Hm.
Blake Shelton will be host and musical guest on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live on NBC.
