Billboard Music Awards 2014 Winners List – Live Blog

We’ll be live blogging the Billboard Music Awards 2014 right here! The air at 8/7c pm on ABC.

Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert, Shakira, 5 Seconds of Summer, Ariana Grande, Florida Georgia Line, Iggy Azalea, Imagine Dragons, Jason Derulo, John Legend, Lorde, Luke Bryan, Miley Cyrus, OneRepublic, Pitbull, Robin Thicke and Ricky Martin are set to perform.

Jennifer Lopez will receive the Icon award. Carrie Underwood is up for the Milestone Award. Phillip Phillips will present. Ludacris is set to host.

Live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas! Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull kick things off with the World Cup Theme. Brought to you by Jenny’s booty and 0% singing!  Oy. This Brazilian chick who has joined the performance CANNOT LIPSYNC worth crap. AWKWARD.

Harry Connick Jr, Keith Urban and Ryan Seacrest will make appearances!

Time for some lame jokes from host Ludacris! He wants us to get REAL REAL REAL excite. Tonight is about to be EPIC! The Billboard charts are about to COME TO LIFE. Whee. KACHING. Ludacris was so excited when his first song hit the charts.

PHIL PHILLIPS SIGHTING! He’s laughing at one of ludies dumb jokes.

Shania Twain says LAS VEGAS ROCKS. She presents Top Rock Album to Imagine Dragons Night Visions. They have spent over 2 1/2 years on the charts.

Danica McKellar (DWTS) and Andi Dorfman (Bachelorette) introduce OneRepublic. They sing their massive hit, “Counting Stars.”  Kudos for singing live Ryan Tedder! Even if it kind of sucks. I mean IT REALLY SUCKS. By the end of the song, he’s completely out of breath.

Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea are next. We’ve got cheerleader outfits. Whoa, this Australian white chick is a rapper.  This is my first time checking her out. Hm. This is hard to take seriously. Can you say appropriation?

Ariana hits the stage to sing her latest song “Problem.” She’s singing live AND sounds amazing AND dancing her ass off.  “Problem” could be the song of the summer. I hope it is. Here comes Iggy to do the rap break.

Marc Cuban and Kevin O’Leary from Shark Tank. They make a pretty bad Solange Knowles before they introduce Florida Georgia Line. They sing TRUCKS TRUCKS TRUCKS Beer TRUCKS chicks otherwise known as “This is How We Roll.”

Miranda Lambert asks “Do ya’ll love strong women” OF COURSE WE DO. She introduces Shakira! She sings “Empire.”  Yes. I like this song. What of it? She’s taken her act out into the audience an on to another stage. Mic stand! Wind Machine! Fog! Shakira has it going on.

Top Billboard 200 goes to Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience. He accepts his award overseas via satellite.

Kendall Jenner is next Zzzz.  She giggles through her introduction, laughing about how she can’t read prompters. Ugh. GET HER OFF THE STAGE. She never even introduces this Australian boy band properly.  The video package compared them to the Beatles which is ridiculous.  This song is something about underwear and lipstick. Whatever.  Oh. They’re called 5  Seconds of Summer. Enjoy your 15 minutes boys!

Kendall Jenner Introducing 5 Seconds of Summer… by IdolxMuzic

It’s Carrie Underwood! She’s so pretty. Carrie presents Top New Artists to Lorde! She reads her acceptance speech from her phone.

Katy Perry is next! She’s performing from the New Castle Metro Arena in the UK. She sings “Make It Like Your Birthday.”  This performance is so…Colorful. Katy has balloons on her boobs. She plucks a birthday girl out of the audience.  “I think its time to bring out my big balloons.” Didn’t you already?  She flies high over the audience in a seat harness festooned with balloons.

Chris Angel from Cirque Soleil introduces Imagine Dragons.  Drums, drums and more drums. That is such a thing now.  They sing “Tiptoe.”  I like the lead singers voice. I’m not crazy about their songs.  Production is overusing the confetti tonight.  OK I have to admit it. They are playing the crap out of this song. Good live band, for sure.

PHILLIP PHILLIPS! He presents the award for Top Country Artist to Luke Bryan, his hometown boy!  Luke actually mentions in his acceptance speech how they come from the same little town in Georgia!. Aw. Watch them walk away from the podium, deep in conversation. Georgia bros!

Ludacris, Brad Paisley and Kesha are on stage together to PIMP their new singing competition, Rising Star. Lots of talk of massive screens. Oh boy. If this is the hint of the panel’s chemistry.  OY.  They introduce a totally annoying hologram of Michael Jackson singing “Slave to the Rhythm.”

Wow. So we’ve got fake Michael Jackson sing album outtakes he probably wouldn’t have released in a million years.  The technology is pretty good. But it’s super creepy at the same time. Really have no desire to watch dead people sing.  Let’s give major technology a standing ovation!

Lindsey Stirling, Youtube violinist and  Sarah Hyland from Modern Family, present Top Rock Song. That pairing is pretty random!  The award goes to Lorde’s “Royals.”

Next, Ricky Martin sings “Vida” his cut from the World Cup album.  He’s  still hot. STILL. VERY HOT.

Josh Groban HOST OF RISING STAR presents Top Female Artist to Katy Perry. She accepts her award from Scotland. She’s in her bathrobe and has her Teddy.

Luke Bryan says “CLAP WITH ME” as he sings “Tailgate”  MORE CHICKS TRUCKS TRUCKS Beer TRUCKS.

Wiz Kalifa presents Top R&B Song  to “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke. It also won  Top Hot 100 song.  He thanks his wife. Oh. They got back together?

Nicki Minaj and her jet black hair is next. She introduces Lorde who introduces her brand new song, “Tennis Court.” It’s good in that Lordey sort of way.

Brad Paisley returns to introduce country music’s FINEST AND STRONGEST WOMEN. He says they were arm wrestling back stage. Heh. OF COURSE it’s Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert introducing their song “Something Bad”   Two great ladies join forces with a bad ass song. NO CATFIGHT HERE. NO SIREE. Also GREAT LEGS.

Austin Mahone and Cher Lloyd introduce the finalists for the Top Streaming Artist.  And the award goes to Miley Cyrus. She’s on tour. OMG WHAT THE FUCK THAT OUTFIT. She accepts her award on the road via satellite.  She swears (shit) during her acceptance speech and pretends its an accident. This chick is so cynical. She’ll do anything for attention. Ugh.

John Legend’s wife introduces him.  Major product placement via CitiCard. They sponsored a concert so we got to see clips of that first, before he performs “All of Me.” and “You & I”. His wife sings along from the audience.

Fallout Boy’s Pete Wentz asked to present Top Country Song. He wanted to perform a country song. The producers said no. The award goes to “Cruise” by  Florida Georgia Line. Blargh.

jordinsparks-bbmas

Jordin Sparks introduces HER MAN! Jason Derulo. He sings “Talk Dirty to Me”.  Well. Alrighty.  Super needed one more song about a “big fat butt.”  This song is pretty annoying. Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle.

Oh it’s Snoop Dogg. Isn’t he Snoop Lion?  He introduces Miley Cyrus who sings “Lucy in The Sky with Diamonds.” It’s a duet with Wayne Coyne from Flaming Lips. Oh Wayne. I love you Wayne. But I’m sorry. This is horrible. It’s supposed to be super-psychedelic but comes off turgid instead.  WTF. Why is Wayne eating her foot?

Ohh. Time for the Milestone Award! Kelly Rowland presents the award to….Carrie Underwood! GOOD GOING FANS.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD WINS THE FAN VOTED MILESTONE AWARD

Robin Thicke is next. He sings “Get Her Back.” It’s Robin doing his sexy thang.

The Top Artist award goes to…Justin Timberlake! He’s “overseas” What does he have to say!  HE WANTS TO THANK EVERYONE ON EARTH EXCEPT DONALD STERLING. Heh.  His thank yous have been really clever and fun.

Ricky Martin and Ellie Gould introduce a video package featuring Jennifer Lopez. The recite a litany of chart stats before. The video features even more stars, like Taylor Swift, singing her praises. Harry Connick Jr., Britney Spears, Rihanna, also praise her! Next Jlo takes the stage to perform her new single, “First Love.”

Next Jennifer accepts her Icon Award. She says music has always been her first love. She thanks a bunch of people. A BUNCH OF PEOPLE. Some of it in espanol. DREAM BIG she says.
