Big Brother 18 Houseguest Used Gay Slurs on Social Media

Within 24 hours of the Big Brother 18 cast reveal, fans have dug up homophobic tweets belonging to one of the housemates.

Corey Brooks, 25, is a realtor and baseball coach to 13 and 14 year olds. “I want to be a good influence to these kids,” he says in his official Big Brother interview. But, hopefully the kids he mentors aren’t reading his twitter feed. He sure loves the F word! Fat shaming seems to be his thing too.

On the plus side, the tweets are nearly four years old. Maybe he’s older and wiser now.  Not so wise that he knew to scrub offensive tweets from his twitter feed before he entered the house.

Ken-doll handsome, bro-tastic and bland, Corey reminds me somewhat of the vapidly nice Clay Honeycutt from season 17. Corey’s social game will likely dictate that he keep negative thoughts to himself. Because after Season 15’s bigot brigade, house guests tend to stay on their best behavior.

For instance, season 16 houseguest and Survivor castaway, Caleb Reynolds got along fine with gay contestants, Frankie Grande, and Tai Trang (respectively). But, during a video shot after he filmed Survivor Kaoh Rong, Caleb made it clear that he does not support the “gay lifestyle.”

Even Jeff Schroeder, whom CBS hired to conduct all the BB interviews, is infamous for his “gay Dumbledore” rant that equated homosexuality with pedophelia. CBS sure knows how to cast them. And even after their bigotry is revealed, they continue to hire them.

The revelation of casual homophobia is disheartening. But it cuts even deeper in light of the tragedy in Orlando over the weekend.
