Big Brother 18 – Week 5 Power Rankings

Tonight was the Battle Back competition of Big Brother 18. Read on to see who returned, who won HoH, and where the Houseguests stand for the week.

Last night was the fourth live eviction of Big Brother 18. By a vote of 8 – 0 – 0, Tiffany was evicted from the Big Brother house. After tonight’s Battle Back competition, Victor is back in the game. But before I get to my predictions of the upcoming week, let me discuss the events of the previous week that led to Tiffany’s eviction.

Tiffany: Tiffany got a raw deal in the Big Brother house. She had every intention to play a loyal game. However, she had a big target on her back simply for being Vanessa’s sister. Last year Vanessa played a brilliant and aggressive game, and that alone made people concerned about Tiffany. It also didn’t help that Da’Vonne constantly planted seeds of mistrust to the other Houseguests about Tiffany, and Paulie had an absurd obsession about how identical Tiffany was to Vanessa. He never stopped talking about how dangerous Vanessa was, and he was adamant that Tiffany needed to go.

This past week Tiffany gave it her best shot to stay alive in the game. After realizing her so-called allies never had her back, she made the wise move to align with Frank and Bridgette, as well as blowing up the games of those who betrayed her. Sure, Frank and Bridgette voted against her the previous week, but the majority didn’t keep Tiffany because they wanted her to stay. They wanted to keep someone in the house to go after Frank and it was more of a move to take out Bronte than it was to save Tiffany. They never had Tiffany’s best interests at heart, so Tiffany owed them no loyalty. So even though Tiffany and Frank had bad blood the previous weeks, they realized it was Da’Vonne’s fault they were going against each other. In addition, Frank and Tiffany knew they were the outsiders of the house, so it was in their best interests to team up.

Even though the odds were against her, Tiffany did everything she possibly could do to save herself. She won the Roadkill and put up Corey since Da’Vonne and James were two people willing to vote out Corey to split up the Nicole/Corey showmance. However, a wrench was thrown into that plan when Corey won the Power of Veto. Therefore, Tiffany nominating Da’Vonne was the only move that could possibly save her at that point. There were other people in the house who wanted Da’Vonne gone too, and Tiffany almost got the votes to stay. She had Frank and Bridgette’s votes locked up, and Corey and Nicole were more than willing to keep her too since they desperately wanted Da’Vonne gone. Tiffany just needed one more vote, but no one else was willing to budge. Therefore, Tiffany was evicted from the house, but kudos to her for giving it her best efforts to stay alive instead of accepting defeat like some past Houseguests have done in the past.

ALLIANCES

Right now there are no solid alliances in the house. At the moment, Frank and Da’Vonne are big targets for a lot of people in the house. Nonetheless, there are a lot of duos in the house: Frank/Bridgette, Nicole/Corey, James/Natalie, and Paulie/Zakiyah. In addition, Paul has become Paulie’s lapdog and Corey seems to trust Paulie too. Michelle, Zakiyah, and Nicole seem to be close as well. However, the house will probably unite to take out Frank and Da’Vonne unless they try to send Victor right back out the door.

Now onto the Power Rankings. When the feeds came back tonight, James is the HoH and he nominated Frank and Bridgette. Here are where the Houseguests stand in the house this upcoming week.

WEEK 5 POWER RANKINGS

1. JAMES – He is the current HoH and nominated Frank and Bridgette. James isn’t one to change his mind about his target (last year he stayed solid on taking out Jace and splitting up Clay and Shelli). No matter what deals Frank and Bridgette offer, I doubt it’ll make any difference.

2. NATALIE – James and Natalie have been flirting a lot lately and seem to be into one another. Natalie has nothing to worry about this week. James will 100% keep her safe this week.

3. PAUL – The rest of these rankings are bit interchangeable, but I’m going to place Paul at #3. He’s a floater and not seen as a threat by anyone. Paul got lucky that his early allies Jozea, Victor, and Bronte were bigger targets than him. Paul will continue floating to the power throughout the rest of the game. Even tonight he’s been running to James and Natalie and telling them everything he’s heard Frank say. He’ll likely continue playing the role of a rat in the house.

4. ZAKIYAH – Zakiyah is playing a very under-the-radar type of game. She’s not seen as a threat at the moment, so I don’t think she has anything to worry about. The only target on her back is for being in a showmance with Paulie, but Paulie will always be a bigger target she can use as a shield.

5. MICHELLE – Michelle is also playing under the radar. However, she doesn’t seem to have any strong connections in the house either. She seems close to Zakiyah, Nicole, and Corey, but she’ll likely be in the bottom of that totem pole. However, she will be fine this week.

6. NICOLE – James has admitted in the past that he wouldn’t mind seeing Nicole get evicted sometime soon, but I doubt this will be the week it happens. James has his sights set on Frank at the moment, so Nicole should be okay for this week. However, it won’t be long before someone takes a shot at Nicole and Corey.

7. COREY –  Corey is in a showmance with Nicole and seems to be close to the other guys in the house. Corey should be fine this week as long as James doesn’t switch his target. However, it’s only a matter of time before Corey and Nicole find themselves on the block next to each other.

8. PAULIE – Paulie has to be seen as a target to the other Houseguests. At least I hope so. Paulie has won numerous competitions and is clearly very influential. Bronte only got evicted after he finally gave his approval, and Tiffany did not get a reprieve last week due to his unwillingness to budge. He’s strong in competitions, but there hasn’t been enough talk about taking him out. However, these Houseguests at the very least should know he’s not someone they want to take to the end of the game.

9. VICTOR – The feeds just came on minutes ago, so I don’t know where Victor stands with the others at the moment. If he is still a target, he should be glad that Frank is a bigger target than he is. I could also see Victor being backdoored once again if the Veto is used. However, there is a likelihood of the guys forming an all-guys alliance, and that alone could help Victor stay alive for a bit longer in the game.

10. DA’VONNE – I’ll be surprised if James takes out Da’Vonne since I don’t think he wants her gone as much as most of the others do. However, he could be pressured into putting up Da’Vonne if the Power of Veto is used on either Frank or Bridgette. I guess we will see if James will protect her or not. Regardless, Da’Vonne is someone several people want gone from the house, so she’ll never be fully safe moving forward in this game.

11. BRIDGETTE – Bridgette is Frank’s only ally in the house. If Frank wins the Veto, then the house will likely vote Bridgette out. Despite not seeming like a big strategic threat, Bridgette has won two competitions so far. And Bridgette staying is only good for Frank’s game, so I can see the house uniting in taking her out if Frank wins the Veto.

12. FRANK – If Frank does not win the Power of Veto, he is gone. However, he’s not one to give up. He’ll campaign 24/7 to save his life and offer any deals he can. However, he campaigned hard to save Tiffany last week and made a lot of good points why they should get rid of Da’Vonne instead, but the majority of the house was uninterested in doing what they thought was better for Frank’s game. The house has waited three weeks to take a shot at Frank since he was saved the previous two weeks by Category 4 winning HoH. Well, the Team Twist is over, and so will Frank’s game if he doesn’t win the Veto this week.

So those are my thoughts on the house dynamics this week. Thanks for reading and feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
