After the Lanterns meeting, a snake bit Colton on his walk back to camp. Medics check on Colton. It wasn’t poisonous, so he will be fine. The next morning, they wake up feeling achy and tired. They are not comfortable sleeping on the bamboo. Craig finds an earthworm, and he wonders if they should have protein now or try to use it to catch fish. Both Craig and Lauren eat the earthworm. Jodie is stunned. She says it’s only Day 3, so she’s not willing to eat bugs yet. Later, Paulina shares stories about her life. Her parents fled Czechoslovakia to go to Sweden. She also shares how her husband died two years ago. Meanwhile, Colton opens up to Mike about coming out. He says he was afraid of people calling him a fraud after he was cast as The Bachelor. Colton explains that he was trying to seem straight to people. Mike tells Colton that his brother is gay, and he was accepting of him.

It’s time to pick captains for the next adventure. Craig and Eboni are the two captains.

Red Team – Eboni, Ray, Jodie, Mike

Blue Team – Craig, Lauren, Colton, Paulina

Paulina hopes to win money for her charity. She’s always picked last and it hurts her feelings, so today is personal for her.

Host Mauro explains the rules of today’s adventure. The two teams must untangle ropes out of a log and then spool the rope. Next, they must navigate natural and manmade obstacles in the jungle while carrying a pole. Once they reach a lagoon, one team member must claim a flag out in the water. Lastly, they must complete a puzzle on a bridge. The first team to complete the puzzle and cross the bridge will win $35,000 to split among them. The challenge begins, and it’s fairly even. The Red Team complete the first stage first, putting them in the lead. The Blue Team is close behind them though.

The first obstacle is a wooden wall they must climb over as a team. Mike struggles getting over the wall, allowing the Blue Team to catch up. The Blue Team manages to surpass them on the wall obstacle as a result. Mike is 62 years old, but he says he’s determined to compete. The Red Team is behind, and they race to catch up. The trek to the lagoon is longer than they anticipated, and Eboni and Jodie are tired from the run. The Red Team falls further behind when the Blue Team reaches the Decision Point marker. They can get a kayak and paddle further for a clue, or they can swim directly to the flag. They choose to go for the boat.

While Craig is trying to get the ropes untied from the boat, the Red Team catches up. Jodie goes out swimming toward the flag before Craig can get the boat on the water. Jodie reaches the flag, but she can’t pull it out. She eventually gets the flag, but Craig has now passed her. Craig is on a boat, but Jodie is still in the water. Craig reaches land before Jodie swims back to shore. Jodie is panicking, but her team members encourage her to keep going. She is in tears by the time she gets back to land.

The Blue Team start assembling their puzzle on the bridge. The must spell out “Panama” with their puzzle pieces. The Red Team is still behind them, but they eventually reach the bridges before the Blue Team finished assembling their puzzle. However, the Blue Team’s lead was too much. They complete the puzzle and cross the bridge. The Blue Team wins the adventure! The Red Team still finishes the puzzle and completes the adventure. The Blue Team wins some bedding as a reward too. Lauren remains at the top of the Leaderboard with most money won so far.

The celebrities meet Mauro for the next Lanterns meeting. Paulina is thankful for the bedding reward. She opens up about her arthritis. Sleeping on bamboo isn’t comfortable, and she feels like she’s holding her team back. Colton says they all have their own issues to deal with. Colton opens up about lying to people on TV for two years. He says today was the first time he could let his guard down, and he thanks his fellow competitors for letting him be himself. Craig gives props to Lauren for doing well on the puzzle, and Lauren says puzzles are her strength. Jodie discusses how difficult the swim was at today’s adventure. She knew she put her team behind, and she felt bad. Eboni tells Jodie that no one had to do what she did today with swimming out into the lagoon. She says everybody is proud of her and respects her.

Mike vents his frustration with losing again, and Mauro asks if this experience has become too much for anyone. He asks if anyone is quitting. Mike says he’s a champion and hates losing, but he says there is nothing the show could throw at him that would make him quit. Ray also gives a special mention to everybody else. Ray says they know what Craig stands for and Paulina’s soul after spending time with them. He says Colton is golden, Lauren will change their lives, Eboni is a gem full of knowledge, and Jodie is one the greatest warriors he’s ever seen. All the celebrities are in good spirits as they return back to camp.

And that wraps up tonight’s episode of Beyond the Edge. Thanks for reading, and come back next week for another live recap.
