The episode begins after their meeting at the Lanterns. The celebrities try to sleep in their shelter, but they are interrupted by a heavy downpour. Metta is also uneasy about the sounds of the animals in the jungle. The next morning on Day 2, Paulina calls last night the hardest night of her life. Colton was expecting to hear the bell ring last night. If any celebrity wants to quit the experience, then he or she can ring a bell and go home. Jodie looks at photos of her family, and she says this is the longest she’s been away from her daughters.

Craig wants to find some food to eat. Eboni admits she’s been lucky enough to have never been hungry in her life, so this is a new experience. Meanwhile, Lauren opens up to Paulina. She shares how she was triggered learning a supermodel was going to be on the show. Lauren tells Paulina about her eating disorder and all the hateful comments she received from people while she was on American Idol. She says people called her Miss Piggy. Paulina says the myth models perpetuate is not real life, and she tells Lauren that she’s beautiful.

Metta opens up about the mental health issues in his family. He shares how he goes to therapy, and the charity he is representing focuses on mental health awareness. He says his energy levels are almost gone, and he’s unsure if he can continue on with the experience.

The celebrities receive a radio message from host Mauro Ranallo. For today’s adventure, he instructs them that they must have three teams of three people. Lauren, Colton, and Mike volunteer to be captains.

Red Team: Lauren, Ray, Craig

Yellow Team: Colton, Jodie, Metta

Blue Team: Mike, Eboni, Paulina

Paulina is reminded about how she was picked last for teams when she was a little girl. She volunteered to be captain for the last adventure to avoid this, so she’s disappointed to be picked last today. Colton is hoping to win money for his charity today. He’s representing his own personal charity that raises money for cystic fibrosis. His younger cousin was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at birth.

The celebrities meet Mauro for their second adventure. He explains the rules. First, they will use ropes to get their team members across a series of balance beams. If anyone falls off, then they will have to restart. Afterwards, they must ride bikes to a rope ladder by a cliff. One team member must climb up the ladder and then have to collect a stash of food cans. They will then have to travel to the final station, where they will have to solve a word puzzle. Each can has a letter, and they must solve the phrase: Taking Your Team to Greater Heights. The winning team will win $30,000 to share. Lauren hopes to win today. The charity she is representing helps women with addiction get their lives back together. She lost a childhood friend to addiction, and she wants to help other women who are going through the same problems her friend Miranda did.

The second adventure begins. Colton is concerned how his team has the two tallest guys. He admits he would’ve rethought his team selections if he knew the tasks ahead of time. The Red Team is the first to complete the balance beams. They take an early lead, but Yellow Team finishes soon afterwards. The Blue Team finishes in third place, but they are not too far behind. The Red Team and Yellow Team reach the cliff about the same time. Craig and Colton step up and climb the ladder for their teams. Craig is making good time up the ladder, but Colton is struggling. He also drops his backpack, and he has to go back down and retrieve it. Instead, Colton asks Metta to toss it up to him. Craig and Colton are far up the ladder by the time the Blue Team arrives. Mike chooses to climb the ladder for his team.

Craig reaches the top of the cliff first. He collects the stash of food cans, but Colton is not too far behind. He also collects the stash of food cans. As the Red Team make their way to the final station, Craig and Ray choose to carry the cans between them to make the trek easier for Lauren. The Red Team also opt to take the longer path to earn a clue. The clue instructs them where to place three of the letters. Due to the Red Team taking a longer path, the Yellow Team is closer behind the Red Team now.

The Red Team and the Yellow Team get started on the word puzzle at the same time. The Blue Team arrives before either team solved the puzzle. Suddenly, the Red Team figure out the secret phrase: Taking Your Team to Greater Heights. The Red Team wins the adventure! Lauren is also now in the lead with earning $16,000 for her charity thus far.

Lauren, Craig, and Ray also win a food reward. While they eat baked beans, Eboni is lamenting losing another challenge. She is hungry and exhausted. In addition, Metta is struggling with the hunger. He is unsure how much longer he can continue on. Jodie is worried about hurting her ankle, which she broke a few years ago. She doesn’t want to exacerbate her foot injury, and she admits she didn’t run as fast as she could during the challenge. Colton tells her not to worry about it since she has to put her safety first. While Ray and Craig try to catch some fish, Craig opens up about the death of his son. He drowned in a tubing accident. He says talking about his son brings a lot of heartache, but sharing his story is what allows him to keep going. He tearfully says that he knows he will see his son again someday.

It’s time for the celebrities to go to the Lanterns again, which is a nightly meeting with Mauro. Celebrities can also decide whether they want to go home at the Lanterns. Metta admits he’s contemplating going home, but he knows he won’t be able to win any more money for his charity if he leaves. Mauro asks them about today’s challenge. Lauren breaks down in tears as she says she was able to appreciate how strong her body is. Lauren shares how she used to have an eating disorder, but the strength of her body helped her team win today. Mike says he was the leader of his team, and he’s proud of how they competed. Even though they got third place, he says tomorrow is another day.

Mauro asks Jodie about her foot injury. Jodie admits she had feelings of not wanting to do this anymore. While they are talking, a tree falls down behind the cameramen. Mauro asks if anyone is thinking about ringing the bell tonight. Jodie says her body is in so much pain and she misses her daughters, but she wants to be a strong role model for them. While she is still talking, Metta raises his hand and says he wants to go home. The other celebrities try to talk him out of quitting, but Metta says this is tougher than he thought it would be. Mike says they need him here and he needs to be here. Mike says he will regret quitting. Ray tells Metta he needs to be a good role model for his daughter and to keep going, but Metta says he is not quitting. He thinks he already got what he needed out of this experience. Metta has already made up his mind. Metta gives hugs goodbye to everyone and heads back to camp to ring the bell. Metta World Peace has chosen to leave Beyond the Edge.

And that wraps up tonight’s episode of Beyond the Edge. Thanks for reading, and come back next week for another live recap.
