The Bachelorette: How Will Producers Handle Eric Hill’s Death?

A terrible event has left The Bachelorette franchise with some difficult decisions to make. One of the contestants, Eric Hill, set to woo Bachelorette, Andi Dorfman, died last week after a paragliding accident.

Season 10 is currently in production now. Eric was no longer part of the show when the accident happened.

Executive producer, Mike Fleiss, told E News:

“We’re going to try to be as sensitive as possible. It’s a bizarre predicament that we never expected to be in, but our problems aren’t important. It’s about his family now. My heart goes out to them. I pray for them and my staff, they’re just wrecked.”

“We’re all just devastated. He was such a vibrant, young dude. He was. He was such a young guy who lived life to the fullest. I couldn’t believe it when I heard. I’m still in shock. We’re all in shock. This transcends everything, certainly a television show.”

While the show decides how to handle his death in terms of production, revelations on how Hill had figured into the competition, indicate finding a sensitive and satisfying solution could be tricky.

According to Reality Steve, Hill got the FIRST one-on-one date with Andi. Also, he did not leave the show via a rose ceremony, which indicates he could be an important suitor throughout the season, making it very difficult to limit his presence on the show.

Currently, Bachelorette is still filming, and is right around the Top 3 or 4. No word on whether Andi knows what happened yet. Could the producers film breaking the news and her reaction? We really have no idea what circumstances prompted Hill’s exit. What if he turned out to be an asshat? That would be REALLY REALLY difficult to edit.
