SADS! On The Bachelor finale earlier this week, Bachelor Nation learned that Pilot Pete Weber proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss and she said yes. But there was more! Peter eventually broke off the engagement, after confessing he still had feelings for Madison Prewett. Peter’s mom Barb let it be known that she was not happy!

To read every ugly detail, check out our recap HERE.

The finale ended with Peter and Madison announcing they would give their relationship a go. But it’s not even a week later, and the two are already calling it quits. Considering that Peter’s family loudly and publicly came out against Madison, is it a surprise.? C’mon Peter’s is in his 30s and still lives at home!

The two announced their split on Instagram

Madison writes: “As Peter and I have decided to go our separate ways, I am confident that we will both move in the direction of our purpose and never forget that God has a plan in all things. I will always love and respect him. I am convinced our paths were meant to cross and we are both better because they did.” Read Madison’s entire message below.

Peter writes: “Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further. Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure.” He also had a few words for his ex-fiance, Hannah Ann “Hannah Ann, you set an example for women everywhere a couple nights ago. You are such a strong, confident woman and you deserve all the love in the world. I accept full responsibility for my mistakes in our relationship and wish you only the best.” On the finale, Hannah Ann read Peter the riot act for NOT being honest about his mixed feelings before proposing to her.

So that’s it. Once again, a Bachelor franchise season ends with broken engagements and broken hearts. Maybe the Bachelorette Clare Crawley will have better luck. If her season ever gets off the ground.
