Today’s Idol Appearances:

  • David Archuleta will be honored as part of the Mass General Hospital Cancer Center 100. Westin Boston Waterfront, Westin, MA. More info HERE
  • Lauren Alaina will appear on Live with Regis and Kelly
  • Taylor Hicks performs at the Dirty Martini, Palm Beach Gardens, FL

The Carrie Underwood/Tony Bennett duet recorded for the legendary crooner’s new Duets II album has been revealed. The duo recorded “It Had To Be You” for the disc, set to be released on September 20. Oh. One of my favorite standards! Should be good.

Whatever Pia Toscano was doing in Arkansas, she seems to be finished, She tweets, “Had a blast at the Walmart Shareholder Conference!!!!” The big meeting is Friday. I would be really surprised if Scotty McCreery isn’t scheduled to perform. Plus, on August 22, Pia will be honored by the Brooklyn Cyclones at MCU park before the 7:30 baseball game. America’s Got Talent – Los Angeles and Atlanta Auditions

I can’t believe I’m about to say this but…tonight’s America’s Got Talent premiere was not half bad. Sure, there were your typical trainwrecks taking up too much time–but some of the bad performers were actually funny.

There was only one annoying kid act–a trio of tiny rappers and virtually NO OVER THE TOP SOB STORIES. Tonight’s auditions, split between Los Angeles and Atlanta were a very painless way to spend two hours.
