America’s Got Talent semi-finals begin this week! And now we know the Wildcard contestant set to perform on the first semi-final episode airing on Tuesday (Sept 8).
According to TVLine, AGT chose Dance Town Family as the first of two Wildcard acts chosen to join the Top 20 for the semifinals.

Dance Town Family are a dance crew made up of latin ballroom dancers from Miami. Because the group auditioned remotely, viewers barely got a look at them before the Quarterfinals. Their first full performance was taped on top of a Miami rooftop (WATCH), in front of the ocean. It was a solid showing, but the group barely had a chance with fans due to lack of screen time.
And indeed, Dance Town Family was eliminated in week 3 without a crack at the Dunkin/Judges save. But now, AGT has given the group a second shot to perform in front of judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara. (More than likely, an ailing Simon Cowell will remain out).
It might have made more sense to choose an act that just missed the save: Feng-E, Puppy Pals, Nolan Neal or Resound. Personally, I would have voted for the return of the talented kid ukulele player Feng-E. But perhaps the show would rather not bring back international acts (Feng lives in Taiwan) who can’t perform live.
UPDATE: DROP OUT THOMAS DAY IS BACK
UPDATE: Last week, Broken Roots, who were eliminated at the Judge Cuts, returned to take the place of teen singer Thomas Day, who dropped out to play high school football. But now THOMAS DAY IS BACK. America’s Got Talent announced it, plus he posted the news on his own Instagram.”WILDCARD,” he wrote. So that means BOTH wildcard acts are performing this week.

Acts competing on Tuesday’s show include: Singer Shaquira McGrath; Drummer Malik Dope; Singer Archie Williams, Aerialist Alan Silva, Singing duo Broken Roots, Diablo artists Spyros Bros; Singing Duo Double Dragon; Kid Singer and Heidi Klum Golden Buzzer Roberta Battaglia, Spoken word artist and Howie Mandel Golden Buzzer Brandon Leake., Latin ballroom dance group, Dance Town Family, Teen singer (and former AGT drop out) Thomas Day.
Ten of the Top 20 acts are singers. It would have been nice two have non-singing acts fill both wildcard spots. For instance, there are NO COMICS in the semi-finals! Bring back Michael Yo or Alex Hooper, the insult comic (Who has been posting away on Reddit).
