The Beyond Belief Dance Company is a group of young girls from Mesquite, Texas who strut on stage with the fiercest attitude.

They are led by their “fearless fabulous teacher and director” Justin Johnson. During their upcoming America’s Got Talent audition in front of judges Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara, Justin enters the stage as his drag persona, Alyssa Edwards.

Fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race certainly recognize Alyssa as a contestant on the show’s fifth season. A fan favorite, she has also appeared on season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. Additionally, Alyssa starred in her own web series, Alyssa’s Secret.

Her reputation is solid. In June 2019, a panel of New York Magazine judges ranked her fifth on their list of “the most powerful drag queens in America.”

While the Beyond Belief Dance Company receives a major national spotlight on AGT, the group is also the subject of a 2018 Netflix docuseries, Dancing Queen, produced by RuPaul.

In other words? These kiddos are already kind of famous!

While introducing the young ladies, Alyssa mentions that he’s “very fortunate to have so many moms and dads and families in Mesquite Texas that not only support me, but celebrate me.” As a shy little boy, dance was the only way Justin could find the words to express himself. He teaches the kids in his dance troupe self-love and confidence.

As far as the routine is concerned, the girls dance in a traditional jazz style to Todrick Hall’s “Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels.” And they do, indeed, slay. Watch the performance below ahead of the Tuesday June 8 America’s Got Talent Audition 2 episode.
