America’s Got Talent went ahead and aired the audition from Brandon Rogers, the singing doctor who was brandon rogers”>killed on June 11 in a car accident.
The segment aired at the end of the show and was prefaced with a card that explained:
On June 11th One of our contestants, Brandon Rogers, tragically passed away in a car accident. At the request of his family we would like to honor his memory by sharing his audition with you.
In the audition, Dr. Rogers shared with the judges, Howie Mandel, Mel B., Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell, what inspired him to study medicine and become a doctor. He performed a sweet version of Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbon in the Sky” which all the judges loved. When Howie declared Brandon chose the wrong profession, he vigorously shook his head no.
After receiving 4 enthusiastic yeses, Brandon shared the good news with his parents via a phone call. This was a man who seemed ever optimistic, devoted to inspiring people, and making their lives better. Truly a tragic loss.
The segment ended with a tribute card: “Brandon Rogers. October 30 1987 – June 11 2017. Thank you for sharing your talent.” The doctor and singer was only 29 years old.
