The Voice 25 Blind Audition: Mafe’s Spanish language version of ‘Bésame Mucho’ turns 4 chairs FAST

The Voice season 25 Blind Auditions move on to night four on Tuesday (March 5). As the coaches teams fill up, Mafe takes the stage with a beautiful Spanish language rendition of “Bésame Mucho.”

No matter that John Legend, Dan + Shay, Chance the Rapper and Reba McEntire have fewer team spots left to fill, they all hit their buttons FAST for Mafe’s performance, resulting in a 4-chair turn. “Incredible,” shouted John as the coaches stood on their feet to applaud.

The 22 year old is from Miami, Florida, but she and her family are originally from Venezuela.

“That was such a beautiful performance,” said Chance, “Your vocal talent is extreme and all your ranges are so fluid.” He explained that his job is to give the artist a platform, and the space to “show who you are.”

“Your vocal touched my heart and soul,” said Reba, “You are a beautiful woman with a beautiful ability to touch people’s hearts.”

“That was thrilling, honestly,” John gushed, “You’re so tasteful. For you to be so young and sound that seasoned, it was magical.” He added that she sang the song with “feeling and emotion” and John made sure to mention that he collaborated with “quite a few Spanish artists.” He namechecked Sebastian Yatra and Juanes. “I just feel like we could have a lot of fun working on music together.” The room cracked up when John said, “I would love to have you on Team Leyenda.”

Is Chance employing reverse psychology?

“That’s a tough act to follow,” noted Dan. Shay added, “I can’t speak Spanish, I can barely speak English. I couldn’t understand the words, but I understood the emotion that you were emitting through the song, which was just phenomenally impressive.” Dan added that he was “blown away” and that he felt “every bit of that performance. One of the greatest singers I’ve ever head in my life!”

Plot twist. Although Chance turned for Mafe’ and pitched her, he began advocating for John. “I’m just being honest,” he said. John joked that he felt like the beneficiary of charity. Shay wondered if Chance was employing “reverse psychology.”

To find out who Mafe chose as her coach, tune into The Voice on NBC, Tuesday March 5 at 9 pm ET/PT. The episode will also stream next day on Peacock.
