The America’s Got Talent 2020 Live Shows continued Tuesday night (Aug 18) with SNL star  Kenan Thompson sitting in for an ailing Simon Cowell. Once again, most of the action took place in a properly socially distanced studio. But a few acts took place in and around the Universal lot. Dance act Bad Salsa performed remotely from India.

It seems that any act that’s the least bit complicated to set up is staged outside of the studio. That includes the dog act Puppy Pals, Singer Kelvin Dukes who had backup dancers, the danger act Jonathan Goodwin, the dance act Shape. It seems production avoid having more than a few people on the studio stage at one time. Group acts are generally staged outside. It probably has to do with the very explicit guideline set up for film production–rules that all film projects in California are expected to follow. I’d love to pick a producers brain about how COVID-19 restrictions dictated staging.

In any case, while last week had some standouts, I was not bowled over by any of the acts this week. Which acts will move forward? My prediction: Voices of Our City Choir, Jonathan Goodwin, Daneliya Tuleshova, Spyros Brothers, and maybe Kelvin Dukes? Vote in our polls below.
