Matthew Richardson is a freelance graphic designer from Georgia looking for his big break on America’s Got Talent. His dream is to be a hoop aerialist, and believes AGT could provide the break he needs.
The 33 year old got a late start. At 18 he saw an acrobatic act and was inspired to pursue a performing career.
In the act, Matthew pulls off amazing acrobatic tricks utilizing a large silver hoop, both in the air and on the ground. Even the hoop does a little dance–without Matthew!
After his performance, Matthew explains how he trained for 3 years solid, and endured multiple injuries to pursue his dream. “Years of struggle,” Matthew explains to Simon Cowell. “It was not a quick easy thing.”
Julianne Hough calls the act “unbelievable” and “beautiful.” Gabrielle Union loves that he “stepped out on faith” and went for his dreams. Howie Mandel admits there have been hoop acts on the show before, but Matthew did it “faster, with more agility and more athleticism.” Howie also compliments Matthew’s grace.
Typically in preview clips, fans have to wait until the show airs to see the results. But in this clip, the panel gives Matthew four yeses. Although, Simon warns that going forward he will need to see more.
The last of the auditions air on Tuesday’s (June 9) America’s Got Talent, airing on NBC at 8 pm ET/PT. The Judge Cut round begin the following week!
