America’s Got Talent 2017 Quarterfinals 3 Recap
Five acts go straight to the semifinals. The acts that came in sixth, seventh and eighth are in danger of going home. And they are Angelina Green (Teen Singer), Colin Cloud (Mentalist) and Danell Daymon & Greater Works (Choir). Viewers have 30 minutes to vote in the Dunkin Save at NBC.com.
After the Dunkin Lounge (Tara can’t do a split!) it’s time for results. Diavolo, and Oskar and Gaspar step forward. The first act going into the semifinals is…Diavolo! Next, it’s Final Draft and Kechi. The next act going into the semifinals is…Kechi. DUH. The boys of Final Draft were dead dudes walking. Kechi is in tears. “I never even dreamt this far,” she says. “America went toward the light,” says Howie. “And you’re the light.
Next, it’s a clip of NFL player Jon Dorenbos, magician who competed last season, doing card tricks out in the street. Whoa Colin Cloud is winning the Dunkin Save at 37%. The vote is close, y’all.
Next, it’s magician extraordinaire, Mat Franco. He performs a trick with a milk carton. He pours out five different drinks for the judges, and then rips apart the carton to prove it isn’t tricked. Cool.

Back to the live results. Chase Goehring and Mike Yung come forward. The next act going into the semifinals is…BOTH!!! Hug it out guys! Heidi notes their talent. “They don’t need any advice,” she says. But mentions to Chase that she likes when he raps. She illustrates said rapping by garbling incoherently.
Oscar Hernandez, Junior and Emily Alabi and Sarah and Hero take the stage. America has voted. The next act going into the semifinals is…Sarah and Hero. Simon says he’s THRILLED the act advanced. Still don’t get it.
Before the break, Jon Dorenbos performs magic with Marlon Wayans. The latter is promoting his new comedy which premieres after AGT.
Next, it’s the delightful Piff the Magic Dragon. MR. PIFFLES RULES. I love that doggo. Oop. Mel kind of stumped him. They’ve had a show in Las Vegas for the last two years. It’s been extended. PLUS he’s touring the country. He even manages to slip in a plug for a show in Providence, Rhode Island this weekend.

Time to reveal the Dunkin Save. It’s been the closest vote of the entire season, says Tara. The act America put through is Colin Cloud. Heidi is happy for him, but warns, “No knives next time.”
The judges decide the next act to go through. Angelina is tearful as she thanks America for the opportunity. Aw. She’s only 13 years old. Do the judges choose Angelina Green or Greater Works? It’s Greater Works by a vote of 3-1. Angelina is eliminated.

I would say the eliminations were fair. I would have maybe swapped out Angelina Green for Sarah and Hero, if there weren’t already so many dang singers. Look at next week’s performers listed at the bottom of the page. Half of the acts are music-based. Four are straight up singers (Darci Lynne is a ventriloquist, but singing is central to her act).
