American Idol season 10 winner Scotty McCreery paid tribute to a high school friend who died this week in a car accident.
On Wednesday (July 22) the country singer honored his close friend by posting a rendition of Vince Gill’s “Go Rest High on That Mountain” on Instagram.
Scotty’s friend, Yameer Greene was only 26 when he died in a fiery head on collision on Tuesday (July 21). The accident happened on Interstate 87 in Knightdale, North Carolina. Tragically, Greene’s car was struck when an oncoming vehicle crashed through the median at a high rate of speed. Both drivers died after the cars burst into flames.

Greene was a twice adopted child. His first adoptive mother died when he was a young child, but another family took him in and raised him. Greene sang in his church and in chorus at Garner High School, where he graduated in 2012.
“Going to sleep with a heavy heart tonight,” Scotty wrote on Twitter. “Gonna miss you, Yameer. So many great memories with you that I will always hold on to. Everyone who knew you, loved you. Rest easy. I can’t wait to see you again one day.”
