On American Idol premiere day, Sunday Feb 14, season 18 finalist Louis Knight dropped a new song, “London.”
The singer-songwriter lives in Philadelphia with his family, but they all originally hail from the United Kingdom. In the song, Louis talks about “heading back to London” after a relationship ends badly.
But in reality, the pandemic has kept Louis here in the states, and all the lovely scenes filmed across the pond for his video were taken by family members.
“I can’t thank my family back in england enough,” wrote Louis on social media. “@samdknight_ for filming and directing, @_nat.knight_ for editing, and David Knight for Executive Producing.”
Also, on the day of the premiere, Louis reminisced about his 2020 American Idol audition, when he sang an emotional rendition of his original song, “Change.” The Idol alum had a bit of advice for the 2021 hopefuls.
“It’s unreal how time flies,” Louis mused, “I want to wish all of this year’s contestants the best of luck. One thing i learned more than anything last year is to stay true to who you are no matter what.”
He also wrote a longer reminiscence, revealing that on the day of his audition, he almost left the show due to nerves. He thanks his family and folks on the American Idol production team for getting him through it all. Read it HERE.
