Ready for a little Christmas cheer? American Idol season 17 winner Laine Hardy drops his first Christmas single, “Please Be Home For Christmas.”

“Now I’m not trying to skip any holidays here,” Laine wrote on Twitter, “but I’m excited to share this one with y’all! My version of “Please Come Home for Christmas” is out everywhere now. I wanted to do something special for the holidays. Listen now and let me know what you think!”

The song was first released in 1960 by blues singer and pianist, Charles Brown, hitting the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in December 1961. But the version that most folks are familiar with is by the country rock band, The Eagles, released in 1978. Their version peaked at No. 18 on the Billboard 100. The band re-released the song as a CD single in 1995, reaching No. 15 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.

The song is a good fit for Laine’s raspy vocals. Check out his version of “Please Come Home For Christmas” below.
