Janelle Arthur welcomed her first baby, daughter Lovelyn, on Sunday, Jan. 16, the American Idol season 12 alum announced on Instagram over the weekend.
Baby Lovelyn, whom Arthur shares with her husband of four years, was born in Nashville at 9:37 a.m. “We are in awe of God and in love with our Lovelyn.”
“She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her,” Janelle wrote. “Long life is in her right hand in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace,” Janelle wrote, quoting Proverbs 3:15-17.
Janelle announced her pregnancy in September. But the good news came after considerable heartache.
At the end 0f 2020 she learned that she and her husband were expecting their first baby. But just six weeks into the pregnancy, Janelle suffered a miscarriage.
“It’s hard to put into words what you go through because you have so many different emotions,” Janelle told People magazine. “It was as if my brain wasn’t prepared for the loss and the sadness of it all. I let myself cry and grieve. And then I just had to trust Him. I just had to trust God’s timing.”
The country singer came in fifth place on American Idol on season 12 in 2013. Amid her recent pregnancy, the country singer released the song and music video “Hand Me Downs” featuring Dolly Parton’s vocals. At age 8, Janelle portrayed Dolly as a child in a show about her life titled “Paradise Road.” When Dolly heard “Hand Me Downs,” a song about heritage, faith and tradition, the legendary country singer agreed to lend her vocals to the song.
Janelle released to song on Black Sheep Records, a deal she signed in 2021.
“I can hardly believe it’s real. I have been sitting on this for a little while, but I have officially signed my first record deal,” Janelle shared on social media.
