American Idol’s Hollywood Anderson Appears on Tonight Show (VIDEO)

Here’s an American Idol blast from the past for ya. Remember season 14 singer Hollywood Anderson? He blew the judges away in his audition with an outstanding rendition of his original song, “My Best Friend.” He auditioned in New York City (Adam Lambert was sitting in for Keith Urban) and told a story of homelessness in the New York City streets.  Unfortunately, the singer fell apart in the Hollywood Round and was cut just shy of the Top 24.

Hollywood surfaced Wednesday night (10/5) in an unlikely place–part of a The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon skit. The singer played a game from the audience called “Freestylin’ with The Roots.” In it, the house band, The Roots, make up songs based on how the player answers a question. Hollywood’s bit begins at the 6 minute mark. The Roots make up a tune about Hollywood’s love of dogs. And not to let a good voice go to waste, Hollywood is invited to sing along with the band.

Hollywood still lives in New York, and contines to grind out a living as a musician.

Check out the bit right here.
